"Forced Diversity" in general needs to die. Not just in Destiny or video games/television. Now keep in mind that not every single one of those people is part of this, it's just a minority of a minority in control in the right positions causing those problems.
We have companies like Disney hire basically on racism.
What? You aren't black/asian/female/transgender? Yeah, sorry. Position you applied for is not for you, even with the fact you are much more qualified than everyone else that applied for it.
We have shows being written either by AI or really incompetent people, acted out by incompetent people and produced by really incompetent people.
"Anakin blew up the Death Star" is apparently an actor retcon now!
We have DEI pushing Diversity in games to an extent that it hurts and kills their games.
Look at Suicide Squad (among other issues). Look at Forespoken. Look at World of Warcraft Dragonflight where we have 6-8 gay couples and NOT a single straight one in the DLC and upcoming The War Within one of the leaders is a black/latino-half-elf Woman with only 1 arm. If she is being a big badass, despite her having a fundamentally handicap that makes fighting impossible, you know how "authentic" and "immersive" the game will be.
Some Diversity hires even antagonize their own customers. Especially on Twitter...
"XY game was never meant for you..."
If you don't like it you are a racist...
All white men should be purged...
(Just to name a few.)
It's a big problem in not just the industry, but the world. And the sooner people realize that they left the control to incompetent baby-adults that get offended by every single misstep because the world isn't perfect, the sooner we can take control back and leave it in the hands of people that ACTUALLY CARE about quality, equality and immersion in media.
Because those people in charge right now? They don't want actual equality. They want inequality for the majority of hetero people by giving everyone else special treatment and more focus instead of mathematical equal focus. They want themselves to be treated special and us treated like dirt.
And unfortunately, ESG rating scores support their behavior for funding.
Edit: For those D1 veterans remembering Destiny 1 story.... I don't think in the ingame story was even ONCE a relationship mentioned. Those relationships only were mentioned in the grimoire text which were totally optional to read. The focus was on the universe and it felt good to be part of it.

My personal favorite was in Last of Us the show… when you had 6’4 240 lb special operators in a post apocalyptic world.. taking and flack from an overweight mouthy woman. All you need to do is watch 28 Days later to understand how it would really play out.

Current entertainment writers are horrible.

Imagine being that triggered by a story in a video game, and then spiraling into a maga hate spiral about the entire world.

Edited by Talia Sendua: 6/27/2024 9:09:36 PM
Imagine being that triggered by a story in a video game, and then spiraling into a maga hate spiral about the entire world.
It's not about the story in Destiny (I couldn't care less about Osiris and Saints love banter, as long as they don't have a season finale about their romance again like in Season of the Plunder...). It's about the situation in general. If you have browsed even with half of your brain the internet the last year, you would know all the piling up controversies like Sweet Baby Inc. Detected, Gamergate 2 and co. People are getting tired of having half-baked characters/romances being shoved in their face without any option to opt-out of it. It wouldn't be a problem if games would leave you the option to engage with such content or not, like Baldur's Gate 3 does (after they nerfed Gales attempts to lay you, lol). But most games DON'T give you that option. And in some way, those games then even fall into the "Propaganda" definition of using media to force agency or politics into peoples life. Diversity done right is no issue. But most games DON'T KNOW how to do it right. And sadly, the extreme parts of the movement behind those games and shows fails to see their own shortcomings and rather blame the critics as racist, -blam!-, transphobes or even -godwinslaw!- for having taste.

Imagine thinking criticism equals hate.

This bad story isn't hate it's people hating the story. If byf houndish mylin all say this season is crap.......it's crap.

Edited by DirtiestQBizzy: 6/27/2024 2:42:50 PMDid you not read his post? He went on a tangent about other things that aren't related to the game at all, so yes, it does come across as hateful and not constructive criticism. For reference, I said in another post in this thread that I don't even like that storyline myself, but it has nothing to do with the rlationship between the characters, and just move on with my day.

I did, he criticized the prioritization of diversity over quality in modern media.

cuz when i think of world of warcraft i definitely think “what an authentic & immersive game” lmao
