Now, I wanna start off by say'n, I have PLENTY of friends that play Destiny 2 (frum D1Day1 Vet to 'n00b').
Thing is, I always liked that we can get together to have FUN.
With this new expansion it seems much of tha 'good stuff' is locked behind forced co-op activities without matchmake'n. .. & that's, well, WackAF.
I don't like call'n on my friends to help me thru one mission only to split up afterwards & go back to freeball'n (as I enjoy do'n most). I move FAST between activities, & frankly I don't call on my friends because they don't move at tha same pace as I.
Sone require breaks in between, others have obligations &/or are stuck ina life where they are perpetually multitask'n (careers, spouses, kids, etc..).. I'm Not.
I get on, & I lock in. . I play for a few hours (or sometimes minutes), then I'm off.
With all these forced co-op activities, I have felt as though I'm 'using' my friends rather than organically play'n with them. .. & as a Psychology Major, I am SO uncomfortable be'n forced to 'be that guy'.
IDK.. I just came back with Witch Queen, & was hella excited for this expansion & what's to come.. tho, I can't help but feel left out & awkward when I want to play. .. Cuz, I literally can't unless I beg for help.
Not Cool, Bungie. . That is all.

Edited by R-E-D-C-E-L-L: 6/28/2024 7:49:30 AMLet's talk about what's really important here. Matchmake'n doesn't truncate matchmaking because they both use the same amount of characters. It is also much more fluid to just type matchmaking rather than stopping to shift+'.

People will cry “FiReTeEm FinDr” on these posts but have to wonder if they’ve actually used it. It’s a great tool that I use all the time. But it’s a mixed bag with the team you pull. The co-op modes are particularly daunting when you can’t even start a mission to try without a fireteam to test strategy or loadouts.
-
Yeah, because of that I believe this is my last expansion. I'm trying to collect a few more things I missed as a new player and then I'm out. I won't be Bungie's hamster on this wheel for much longer.

Destiny 2 works best when casual activities have the ability to be matchmade. They missed that insight and should have built 2 levels of hardness for matchmaking.. that could guide the players to harder content that perhaps should not be matchmade. (I do still think with a proper "pathway/method" you could create a matchmaking for any activity) I think there was a bad choice made to create fireteam finder.. it is over-engineered and wasn't what the player-base was missing... it should have been revamping matchmaking, tutorials, instructions, prompts..etc.. but like most things they'll chalk it up as a win/learning for the next game.

What are the 'so much co-op' activities? There's only 1 true co-op mission. That's so much? Lol
-
They literally built an in game lfg use it, nothing is forcing you to play solo that’s only you get out of your box and don’t let the few bad interactions of an lfg experience a year or 2 ago ruin a fun multiplayer game stop forcing yourself into a box
-
My god, the whining never ends.
-
If in the 10 years destiny has been out you don't have any friends to do anything or you're "socially anxious", that's not my problem Adapt or be left behind.
-
I like that they put matchmaking for the seasonal activities on expert difficulty.Enigma can be a bit hit or miss but most players are capable enough to do Breach.
-
Just wait until this guy finds out about fireteam finder
-
Hey, get out there and be a salesperson.
-
No, there's not much what requires co-op.
-
First off. Why the hell are you typing your words like that? It sounds ridiculous. Like you're trying to sound "gangsta" but it just comes across as illiterate. Second. There's only a few activities that require a team but don't have matchmaking, and it's usually master/GM level content. What the hell activity are you complaining about. You talked in circles about not wanting to be that guy but never gave a single example of the content you're complaining about. And if you're not wanting to play with those guys on your list, and you only really ever join them when you HAVE to, are they really classified as friends? Because I play with mine every day and sometimes we move at their pace, other days at my pace, and other days in between. That's part of friendship. And other days we hangout in a party chat and socialize while each doing our own solo stuff.
-
FTF takes max 1 min to fill any group for any TFS activity….most fill within seconds
-
Bungie is not going to completely change up the game for a couple of people who can't find an hour to look for someone else and run an activity.
-
Game literally has IN GAME fireteam finder. People still complain about not having ways to play together.
-
You all talk about matchmaking sooo much but fail to bring up how trash it’s been for seasonal content that requires specific mechanics. It’s an exotic mission with real mechanics dumbed down, it’s not hard to find a competent player 🙄🙄
-
Fireteam finder.
-
In-game LFG, LFG on app, LFG on other platforms, third party LFG, etc.
-
They literally added an in game lfg? Only used it once but it works
-
I’m on xbox and I use fireteam finder. It’s almost like matchmaking. Wish it had support for more seasonal content to include basicaaly everything IMO. It could definity be improaved but its not too bad.
-
As a solo player I find it just comes down to how badly you want something. I used lfg for the first time in yrs to get the class items and then stopped there. Personally I couldn’t care less about Guardian Ranks or a Trace rifle I’ll never use so I’m not going to bother doing the co op campaign stuff. The rest of the game has been perfectly fine running solo , really we even got a whole destination designed to run solo.
-
Use the fireteam finder they added directly into the game...then you don't have to ask your friends and can find people doing the same activity you want to do. https://www.bungie.net/7/en/FireteamFinder
-
Sounds like you need a game more tailored to your very specific and individualized play style.
-
Sounds like your play-style is the issue here.
-
Where exactly are those Co-op activities you're talking about? From my knowledge it's only Dual Destiny and Salvations Edge. Dual Destiny is irrelevant now as chests are faster. And raids never had matchmaking.
