Political stuff aside, the chemistry feels off, and the relationship itself seems a little forced.
It's also somewhat a retcon, as in earlier lore it was pretty clear that they were just best friends/allies.

This is what I keep telling new lights, they were never gay. In lore they were like brothers, it’s disrespectful to what was originally wrote for them and you can tell they were just tokenized. 🤦♂️

Edited by Me Titan Me Punch Stuff: 6/29/2024 5:49:59 PMI just got done being banned 30 days for saying this good luck. Appealing to a bunch of weirdos to make a few extra dollars. And I will take the next ban the same way. Forcing this stuff on people is weird and creepy.
-
Exactly. If you’re gay you’re gay, if you’re into donkeys that’s your deal, whatever, but I don’t have to support you, be proud for you, or give you money to continue your “crusade” just live your life, but…if you try to force yourselves on me…be ready for the bloodiest, most violent, vicious fight you’ve ever had. Yeah I’m no new comer to the bans lol, but like my nephew was telling me about Springtrap in the FNAF lore….I always come back lol
-
That’s because it is forced…

That’s it buddy, you’re banned.

Edited by xbroggiex: 6/28/2024 12:26:42 PMContext is that he(Robert Brookes) always believed they were gay before he even became a writer at Bungie and as soon as he obtained any form of power over the story he hamfisted the retcon in. It shows bad writing that he ignored all previous lore to rewrite characters to fit his own fan-fiction made cannon, this was never represented in any release before he started writing for Destiny. Reading anything pre-brookes shows that they were BFFs or brothers in arms. Even when they fight in to CoO comic Saint literally calls Osiris "brother".
-
Honestly I started in Shadowkeep so I was not aware of previous lore that they weren't a couple, though Saint-14 going into the Infinite Forest to find Osiris and then Osiris bending time to try and save Saint-14 does make equal sense for love and/or camaraderie. But someone mentioned the Devil's Ruin "mission" where we have both Saint-14 and Osiris in call together for the first time and watching it now, their tone is strikingly different than it is currently. It is much closer to how close friends would joke with each other; Saint-14 telling to Osiris to leave the call, -blam!- "make me" and his reply is "you would not survive that, (but) you make me laugh so you can stay." Not quite the tone for lovers, at least how I understand it. Nothing wrong with them being lovers however, again it does make some semblance of sense but it does indeed appear to be a retcon to fit a narrative and that in itself feels wrong. Still, not a fan of love stories to begin with and it seems like we are going to end up with a wedding at the end of this Episode, just based on how the writing is going.

I apologise for coming across as hostile earlier. I had been through a fair few posts before yours and assumed that you were also being hostile. Relevant thread.

No problem dude. Have a good day
Political stuff aside, the chemistry feels off, and the relationship itself seems a little forced. It's also somewhat a retcon, as in earlier lore it was pretty clear that they were just best friends/allies.
You basically said it yourself. If you take away the political woke stuff, it wouldn't even be in the game to begin with and that's what makes it so awkward. Look at Nimbus, the dude had fkn bikini armor with his thigh exposed and high heels. Whats the point of wearing armor when half your torso isnt protected ? 😆 They try to force this stuff so they seem like they're all inclusive, but look what they're doing with solo players with disabilities now and I'm not just talking about anxiety. For the record. I run all kinds of multiplayer activities so that's not my issue. Its so ridiculous...
-
Precisely, I've been saying this forever lol. The original lore clearly indicates they were more like brothers than lovers but everything changed after season of dawn and the narrative lead change. I don't think it's a coincidence in the slightest. I hope the overall narrative doesn't fall victim to agenda but we'll see how it plays out in the long run. I don't think it'll be a deal in the grand scheme of things since the episodes are separate and it's pride month but something to think about.
-
If only the chemistry was fixed between an animated wizard and a robot I’d be all for their love story… get off it. They could be played by Chris Hemsworth and Henry Cavill and you’d still complain.
-
I know it's weird to ask for realism in a game about space magic and eldritch gods turned rocket launchers, but I genuinely think there's a writing problem there. No one who loves each other talk or act like those two do, and if they do, they're probably playing it up for someone else. And I don't know what Chris Hemsworth and Henry Cavill possibly voice acting Saint-14 and Osiris has to do with anything??? I just get irritated when writers deflect genuine criticism with accusations of utter bigotry. And there is most definitely bigotry, but that's not what this is, and that's not what some of these other posts are.
-
I’ve said this before, adding your own voice to the cacophony of actual bigoted comments that are using “the craft of writing” as a front for what is essentially g*y b*shing, doesn’t help anyone. It only validates their own echo chamber that there is a silent majority of players and people who secretly hate minorities.
-
Keep projecting your unfounded biases, critical thinking isnt your strong suit.
-
Said the bigot to the PhD candidate ..|..
-
Yeah I see where you're coming from, but I'm also entitled to give genuine feedback and criticism to the writers of this game, regardless of what others are saying.

That's not a retcon. Best friends/ allies can progress to lovers.
