Use of Timers

Dear Bungie: For many of us who have families, adding timers to activities which cause you to lose the whole activity if it lapses is a flat barrier to the content. In particular here I'm thinking heavily of Dual Destiny and Enigma Protocol. These are fine if I, and those with similar home life, happen to have time with the rest of the family out. Otherwise it is essentially impossible. My recommendation would be to either remove the timers for normal difficulty or add checkpoints after each major section which you start from if you fail instead of losing all progress. Then just add a higher difficulty level with the current timer mechanisms for these sorts of activities which gives greater rewards. Double loot drops or something. But if the trend continues with pass/fail timed mechanisms for the normal difficulty of core seasonal/expansion activities... Well I for one will no longer be able to continue purchasing the content, since I simply cannot effectively engage with it. As it stands one person in our fireteam who gets an interruption from their family (and all of us in our fireteam have one, which is one reason we stick together) then ruins 20-40 minutes of effort for the whole team. Rather than just being able to take a ten minute break while they take care of something and then resume. We are not all single 20-somethings with endless time to kill. Please consider this in the content design phase. I'm sure more players than just our fireteam would appreciate it. Respectfully.

  • Sorry, I didn’t finish reading this as my timer ran out! Sorry again, in a funny mood today, but agree totally. Timers should be short section related so you don’t lose your entire evenings game time on fail
