The way its supposed to work is that if you get the buff every week it extends the timer to last another week, while also increasing the effectiveness. Buying the buff on a different character will however NOT extend the timer and NOT increase the effectiveness. The buff can only be purchased on a single character each week, which encourages you to only play a single class. Making the buff account wide should fix these issues.

Edited by kevsmart: 7/3/2024 2:49:47 PMThis. Strange Coins are account wide, you can't get the buff on multiple characters, yet the buff is only on the one who spends the coin? This is very dumb. Also the fact that it apparently makes your quest tab flash constantly is very annoying. And only stacking to 99 is WAY too low.
-
Lost all my stacks too and it sucks tbh. It's something you should think about before implementing stuff like this.

Agreed. It wasn't even clear that it was 'Per Character' I myself didn't figure it out until I messed up by purchasing the favour on my alt character. I went back to my main character after I realised but it won't allow you to get the favour again so no boost. Really bad form Bungie.

Explains why I'm getting 7 coins on warlock & 5 on titan/hunter, wtf
-
Lmfao, of course they didn't test it.

Strange. I was able to acquire this on 2/3 characters. You don’t buy it, you can acquire it once you’ve spent X amount of strange coins. Think it’s 47. If you’re full on strange coins, just keep buying the random reward which costs 1 strange coin and the more you purchase the more you rank up with Xur. It also allows you claim powerful engrams for the first 3 levels. It is stupid that it’s not account wide though and how I was able to acquire it on only two characters.

Here's my take on stuff like this now.. I jus cannot care. I'm very much over getting annoyed at the game. Some of it is frustrating but in an eye rolling 'yeah, why not that' kinda way. I jus ran an expert Breach X & during the final boss fight the entire team got wiped for no apparent reason Misadventure Yeah, sure, ok.. whatever lol Then a Champion decides they gonna jus repel shots without the shield. Fine, whatever I used to get annoyed because stuff like that would kill the 'complete BLAH without drying' but now it is, essentially, a dice roll. Skill or patience or positioning has nothing to do with anything, it's jus what the code decides to do. So when it comes to structure decisions, I jus shrug & move on. There's no way I'm letting this game annoy anymore, be it inconsistent world rules or janky game design decisions. And Strange are capped & only really any use for half the week anyways, so it's pretty much null issue. All this, is of course, IMO Have a luverly day Gardjins 😘

Bungo wants us to play non-stop on every single character. What's the point of the buff with only a 99 cap. Most of us will already have the vast majority of items that Xur sells. I used the coins to buy enhancement cores as there was nothing else worth getting.
-
It’s not? Huh, well then.

Good post...I just assumed it was and have now lost my stacks There is already a hardcap of 99 coins too. My guess is it was just lazy design, the account-wide vs character progression in D2 is such a mess

They also should boost the coin carrying capacity a bit too

Edited by Dooodley: 6/24/2024 8:18:13 PMXur has a bunch of QoL issues. * The issue with the buff (which I'm going to trust the OP on since I havent noticed myself. I have a main and just run pinnacles on the other two when I've ran out of things to do on the main) * Having to pick up Xenology on every character * Having to talk to Xur for the Xenology reward. Not everyone runs the activities required every day, meaning that people will save them for the weekend. It just limits when and what you play alt. you'll have to skip a Xenology week for turning it in late (mostly an issue for new and returning players) * Losses resulting in less coins - even if a match lasts longer than a NF most weeks. I dont know if it's to prevent AFK'ing but people would probably do that regardless. * The inventory stack being way too small. Between having to run Xenology when Xur is present and capping out fast it's just stupid to run strikes mid-week - unless of course you really like strikes.

But should flavor of the nine be account wide? Hmmmmmmm????
-
Sorry if obvious but what does it do exactly?
