This is an amazing video by Aegis (notable speed runner and gameplay optimizer) on why the -5 change isn’t good for the game.
They put it really well with this: “(Bungie) should raise the ceiling not the floor”.
This change to how basic raids functions dramatically impacts how players newer to raids or dungeons interacts with Destiny’s hallmark game mode. The result is around a 30% to 50% increase to how long it takes to kill a boss as well as a reduction in player survivability going from +20 effective power to -5.
This all comes back to why Bungie is adjusting the entry-point to endgame content, raising the difficulty floor instead of providing challenges or opportunities for players to show their skills at a higher level.
All this does is further gatekeep the content that is Destiny at its most core, further reduce the amount of players willing to give raids more than 1 shot in the first place (considering less than 20% of players have ever completed a raid), and makes content more tedious for those who actually need the challenges.
The removal of surges is only 1/2 the problem included in the changes with TFS in these activities.

You see, you make a great point but, you linked a content creator. folk on the forums think that content creators are responsible to every dreg we die to on patrol. The games just so impossibly hard because of them, y'know?
in case you needed to know this is sarcasm, I'm being sarcastic. -5 is making it really hard to get sherpa's in.
