Is it weird to make up fan made lore for your Guardians?
I’m a writer and was in need of something to do, so I made individual lore for each of my guardians. Is that a thing that people do? Should I stop?

Nope I've done that to and for my ghost sparkles which my ghost hates the name I chose but my guardian calls him it anyway.

Naw man keep going I do the same thing. All 3 of my characters have full names,backstory’s,adventures. Makes them feel more natural and unique

I just pretend it’s me. Like I lived my life just as I’m doing now, the Traveler is on Mars since 2014 but the Pentagon is keeping it a secret 🤣, and 650 years in the future the Traveler brought me back with zero memories through my Ghost that I named Joseph. 🤷♂️

My Warlock is a space cowgirl named the Marshal who adopted a baby Fallen when she killed its parents in a battle and didn't know what they were protecting. I wish I had a degree in Video Game Narrative. Writing for Bungie would be a dream job.

Hey, if you enjoy writing about your Guardians, then who cares what other people think! Write what makes you happy and try not to care too much about people's hate/negativity. Good luck on your writing! :))

5 RepliesCould be fun to you, but the Destiny narrative is from the PoV of the same guardian. It’s not a story about all of us, its just “the guardian” so writing lore for your characters specifically would apply to all of us, so we probably won’t agree with what you came up with as we don’t resonate with it. I say never give up on being creative. Never stop. But if you want everyone to like it, of which you made no mention but I do include it because you ask this question, you might want to consider writing up lore not associated with you personally.

2 RepliesThat's actually a cool feature they could add...🤔 Get a one time chance to make each of your characters own Lore...people who inspect your players, (I do it all the time) can read the Lore and it might make good connections to someone who may think the same way... How much time and or effort to program something like that in?? See how your idea has made someone run with it? That should answer your question whether or not if it's weird...

It's normal and an enjoyable way to experience the game which enhances the game in my opinion. As others have said, the canonical Guardian's story is given by Bungie, which we experience through their eyes when we play that content. Obviously we can't all be the same person, though playing with that mindset isn't wrong either as it is mostly intended for the viewer to be the hero.

Guardians are set up to have no back story, by having no memories when they revive, and be an insert character. It's why the guardian rarely speaks. Destiny handles players in lore, as every player is A guardian, and you are THE guardian. This basically means no, not at all. Your guardian was made for you to give them whatever story you want and more or less be the guardian. Even my guardian has lore, and I'm mostly a trials junky these days.

I did it for my titan. Which isn't even my main. See he has a problem. He ran into VOG and came upon some Vex and one of them some how injected him with a virus (in his head he thinks that). So every time he gets new armor, it rust out and get that old green look (descendant vex chrome).

My Guardian canonically is best buds with Lord Shaxx, bakes cookies with Mithrax when off-duty and uses only void because purple = cool. :)

Should I stop?[/quote] If writing is your passion and you enjoy Destiny then it would only make sense that you would mix the two together. I’m not familiar with the world of fanfic but it definitely exists and it’s pretty big for the people who inhabit that space. In fact I’m sure you could find some Destiny related stuff online if you looked. As for it being weird? Not at all. It’s really no different than an artist who creates visuals based on Destiny or cosplayers who create intricate costumes based on it either. Artists combining their chosen medium with their other passions is an extremely normal and often practiced aspect of being creative. If you enjoy it that’s all that matters at the end of the day.

Not at all, it's your story. Players make fan-fic all the time so I say go nuts and tell the tale.

As a patrol main I like to make up stories and games for all my favourite patrol zones… once I got so engrossed 18 hrs had elapsed
