As discussed in the below TWAB/TWID posted on Feb. 21, 2023:
- Kinetic damage is also increased by 25% if using a Surging subclass.
With the update of The Final Shape, and the release of the Prismatic subclass, the Kinetic damage bonus for activity surges has become bugged. This likely happened when the devs were tuning all of the kinetic weapons damage modifiers for the update. This needs to be addressed sooner rather than later with the release of our first Kinetic-Heavy weapon: Microcosm. Which, presently, will always be a strictly inferior option than other heavy weapons with the addition of activity surge modifiers to dungeons & raids.
I tested everything with the exact same gear in a master nightfall. The only changes were in abilities and subclass selection. No boot-surges were equipped, nor did I apply any elemental buffs or debuffs.
- While on Prismatic, with all Stasis Super/Abilities (Non-Surge Element) Thorn dealt 5537 body shot damage to the vex goblin.
- While on Prismatic, with all Solar Super/Abilities (Surging Element) Thorn dealt 5537 body shot damage to the vex goblin.
- While on Solar subclass specifically (Surging Element), in order to confirm this is not a bug unique to Prismatic subclass, Thorn dealt 5537 body shot damage to the vex goblin.
Attached in the linked URL is an Imgur Album of my proof photos. All shots were taken on June 16th, 2024, before daily rest.
Please add this to the known issues list as soon as possible, and address it as quickly as possible. I'm, as I am sure many others are as well, thrilled to see a heavy trace riflfe, and a kinetic trace, and a kinetic heavy, all rolled into one.

Hi there, Thanks for reaching out! We'll pass this along to developers for further investigation.
