Sharks with lasers on their heads

I say this with love: Am I the only one amused by the Dr. Evil methods of every major villain in Destiny, including the Witness? For example, the last thing between me and the Witness in the campaign is an ogre. The ogre has an unbreakable shield. To break the shield, I have to go through a portal, kill two knights, and then I get a relic that lets me break the shield. I cannot transport back to fight the ogre until I kill the knights. Here's an idea: just don't send the knights there! Or, if they were already there and the Witness is surprised by what I am doing, teleport them out as soon as it realizes what I am doing. I have to do this twice. So even if he doesn't realize the first time, he could transport them out the second time. Earlier when I am fighting the brig at Zavala's homestead memory, the brig has an unbreakable shield. I have to kill some adds that show up on dropships to get rid of the shield. How about, just don't send in the adds?! That way, the brig's shield stays indefinitely. There are many examples like this, where the bad guys either actively work to create some way for me to beat them, or at least, do not make simple decisions that would block me from doing anything. The answer can't always be that they are surprised how strong I am. Right after I kill the ogre, the Witness goes on about how powerful I am. So he thought two big knights would stop me? Underestimating me might make sense a time or two, but not always. Of course, it's due to making gameplay challenging enough but not impossible ... but this post is about the lore aspect of it, which is pretty comical to me.

  • Combat has never been lore accurate. From shields to supers. Shields aren’t in any combat lore and only appear in one cutscene, when Amanda shoots Crow. Just like Cayde and Ikora have cutscenes showing them using back to back supers and lore also shows it.
