Possible Fix for Vestige of Light (3 Prismatic Fragments)
I want to spread the word on a possible fix. Ive tested it as I was struggling to get the last 2 fragments due to have 20 Memories of Light and it not converting to a legendary version. Vestige of Light is Bugged. Ive been up super late trying to get the fix for this. This is all the stuff I found out so far to solve it. Okay, here we go:
Basics on How to get Memories of Light:
1. Grab a "Alone in the Dark" quest from Micah-10
2. Do all steps till it sends you to a CYST location, will be marked if you mark the quest. It will ask you to invert and point the marker on a bird, do the invert and follow the marker to the cyst.
3. When you enter (depending on which cyst, might have to go further), there will be enemies along the path glowing. Kill the glowing enemies and you'll receive a Memory of Light (Blue). Continue till you get 5. It will then convert to legendary (purple). Do NOT continue, just fast travel to area that has the circle for the Memory: (insert 1 of 3 names here) and find the chest to receive prismatic fragment.
Now, heres where the bug comes in. Most players have a lot of these or cannot spawn these up after receiving 1 of the 3 chests. Heres the fix I discovered.
- IF YOU HAVE 10 OR HOWEVER MANY MORE MEMORIES OF LIGHT (BLUE), DELETE THEM, EVEN THE MEMORIES OF DARKNESS ONES AS WELL, JUST TO MAKE SURE. FOLLOW STEPS BELOW:
- IF YOU COMPLETED A CHEST AND CANT SPAWN ANYMORE. FOLLOW BELOW AS WELL:
[b][u]1. LEAVE THE PLANET/DESTINATION, JUST GO TO ORBIT OR TOWER, SOMETHING.[/b]
[b]2. TRAVEL BACK TO THE LOST CITY AND GRAB A "ALONE IN THE DARK" QUEST. COMPLETE QUEST UP TO STEP 5 OF 7 (CYST EXPRESSED)
3. DO CYST LOCATION LIKE QUEST IS INDICATING, ONCE 5 MEMORIES OF LIGHT DROP ALONG THE WAY. DELETE OR COMPLETE "ALONE IN THE DARK QUEST".
4. GO TO CHEST AND UNLOCK FRAGMENT.
5. RINSE AND REPEAT STEP 1. MAKE SURE TO DELETE/COMPLETE QUEST "ALONE IN THE DARK" AND PICK UP AGAIN FROM STEP 2.

NOTE: Ive looked everywhere for answers and no one had real solutions. This is the closest detailed solution Ive seen as it worked for me and my buddies when I was testing fixes.

Edited by Haavoc: 6/21/2024 5:52:46 PMI was able to get the workaround to work. I wiped all of my vestiges of light. Both in the postmaster and in my inventory, so the count was 0. Then I went and did the Smothering Darkness Cyst. When you get to the boss room and you have to go around the arena and shoot the crystals ... there are white flashing majors in those caves and enough to complete and get the legendary in one run. Just don't focus on the boss. Hunt the blinking majors. How it works for others. What a mess! I did it three times and got all 3 of the chests.

The way I "fixed" mine was simply going from Cyst to Cyst and finding the "shiny enemies". Apparently the game keeps track of what Cyst you got the last Memory Vestige from and then changes the next available drop to another Cyst. Why do I believe this? Because I kept running the same one over and over after deleting all of my Memory Vestiges because they wouldn't convert and I got no new drops. I had read somewhere that certain cyst dropped certain memories and you could only get those memories from that particular cyst. That's incorrect, as I discovered. I joined a couple of different friends on their instances of the Pale Heart, ran to the same Cyst and of course, that didn't work either. Last night, I decided to just run each Cyst to see if that would "fix" the issue. It did, sort of. In fact, after my experience last evening, I no longer believe this is an issue in as much as it is just misunderstanding of how these things drop. At any rate, I ran the "Smothering Darkness" cyst and got 4 of the 5 "Vestiges" that I needed. I ran it again, and nothing. This is when I decided to move on to the next one available (that god awful one with the moths), luckily within the first few enemies I killed, I got the drop I needed and they converted into the last legendary item (don't remember the name, something something Legendary Memory thing) and went immediately and got the last Fragment. I write this novella here in hopes that it will help someone else who has also spent countless hours "trying everything" only to discover they've wasted their time.

This seems not to work anymore if you did all Alone in the dark. After the new mission, there's a new dialogue with Micah and the quest disappeared.
