Recently came back to the game and was trying to play through the new campaign with my kiddo. She's playing on our PS5 (has her own PSN account with communication enabled and the works) and I went and linked her Bungie account to mine via Parental Controls. I've enabled voice chat for her in the Parental Control settings so that I can tell her what to do in the game, but every time that I try to get her into the in-game voice chat, the in-game option is completely disabled. I click it on and it immediately switches back off.
I've tried adjusting restrictions levels and communication permissions for the PlayStation numerous times and have messed with the Bungie Parental Controls a bunch with absolutely no success. Does anyone have experience with this issue or have a possible fix?

I would also like an explanation for how to set this up. I can't figure it out and it is -blam!- ridiculous

Did they ever answer you on this? Running into the same problem and I’m ready to throw this Xbox out the window.
