We need more players in PvP

Changing matchmaking did close to nothing when there aren't enough players online to form a good match. I've been running into people both well out of my skill band, and people with terrible connections. We need more people to play PvP, and you need to give them an incentive to stick around. I'd start by giving new players good loot so that they stand a chance against more experienced players, but I'm no expert in this. I just know we need more people to play PvP so that matchmaking will put people in fair lobbies.

  • I think there’s more issues with pvp than just the matchmaking. I came back from a long break from the game to see what’s new with into the light. While I had some fun with the last word and lunas howl I’ve also had a lot of frustrating experiences playing 6v6. It feels a lot like year 1 all over again with some exceptions. Teammates are back to being glued to each other at the hip the entire match using nothing but automatic weapons. 1v1 engagements are almost non existent. I know someone might say just play competitive, or rumble. Or they might say it’s a team based game and team shooting is a part of the game and yes that is correct. But everyone is playing it safe, spray and play together until the opposing team goes down. If I want to play a game where I take my squad and focus on one point with thousands of rounds of ammunition in a split second I’d play battlefield. Team shooting means more in that game than a cod/ halo style game with space magic mixed in. My opinion as to why matches are the way they are is because of bungie tuning weapons to where crits matter more and the special weapon ammo economy changes. Good players might be taking advantage of the changes but most players are switching to automatic weapons because they’re more forgiving. Get a teammate with an auto rifle too and you’re even better. Restrict special ammo and it enables players to stick to automatics even more. So I think when it comes to matchmaking issues I think freelance should return with sbmm in it. Regular 6v6 should have cbmm. I think weapon tuning and special ammo economy should be reverted. I like having special ammo. Yes my opponent might have special, a lot of special probably, but the odds are even the entire match. I personally liked how the special ammo economy was at the start of destiny 1. I might be in the minority with that but it’s my opinion.
