• I can only assume it wouldn't accept my username because a part of it has something that got picked up by the profanity filter. But prior to the change to my current name, my username was even closer to what the system deems "profanity"- so I don't really understand why I couldn't have the two Z's in my name.

  • Because 'but' is filtered.

  • While I understand that, my username prior to this change was "C[b]-blam!-[b/]cade", if my intent was to have a name that bypasses the filter for that type of thing, I wouldn't have even changed my name in the first place. But I did change it, because it isn't my intent, I just want the two Zs. I just don't understand why there'd be hesitance from Bungie to add the other Z if my intention with the username is very clearly not negative.

  • Aside from me messing up the bold, it literally even censored Casscade in that reply, so it makes me confused why I'm unable to have the Zs.

  • Because too many people sidestep the filter using such spelling. So they negate all combinations.

  • With as many inappropriate names that I still see, it just feels unfair that I'm not even able to have a completely harmless username just because of that. It'd be nice if Bungie would actually provide support to folks in a situation like mine, rather than just leaving them to deal with it. Especially considering we only get one name change.

That's because people keep finding ways to sidestep the filter. Thus forcing Bungie to continuously update the block list, default names and ban players/clan from the game entirely. If you see a name that breaks code of conduct do the right thing and report it.

  • I'm just surprised there's no support you can contact to where Bungie could personally see to a name change request. I doubt I'm the only one who can't have their name because of the broad filter.

  • Because people don't know how to behave. You can have a name changed to the default guardian#### name using the Privacy request form if you're truly unhappy or concerned with the current name. NOT an additional name change. Honestly I'm surprised Bungie gave us a second one at all.
