Why... on the verge of the collapse would you defy the light? And what does that mean? We are the light, or so we've been told. Defy the Vanguard then? Or join Xivu... the forces they fought at Twilight Gap? The light is lie. It's fake. The collapse is upon us once again, and that lore foreshadows it.

  • No, it doesn’t. He is self reflecting on a bad call he made. Saladin is a very conservative Guardian. He holds to the ideals that the Vanguard and Guardians as a whole held before our resurrection that viewed anything past humanity as darkness, in turn, presenting ourselves as “the light”. By saying “defy the light” he is stating that he wants his troops to be like Shaxx, who defied a direct order during the Battle of Twighlight Gap, and defended the city as a result. To defy the “light” is a metaphor for himself.
