Have you gone into settings, audio settings, and your headset is selected for all audio?
Does your headset have an alternative volume control for game chat audio?

thank you, this is feedback i hadnt thought of before. i dont have a duel channel headset now but i use to have once with a game and chat audio lain so i am going to try plug that one back in tomorrow and see if i can fix it. however i dont think it will work after downloading destiny 2 on xbox again today and even on xbox i also cannot hear people on fireteam chat :/
