For the first time, I had actually considered getting the base game of The Final Shape when I saw Prismatic talked about on my Twitter feed. I thought, "Okay. That looks like it could be a lot of fun being able to use whatever I want, whenever I want." Then, I read the Deep Dive... Back to no longer getting even the base game at launch. If I want TFS, I'll wait until a sale like I did with TWQ.
Now, I hoped it would be the full list of everything from each subclass that we could pick and choose from to create our Prismatic build. I would have settled for having at least a couple choices from each subclass' abilities and aspects to select from. Instead, it's a curated selection of abilities that Bungie even says in the Deep Dive that they're the ones players aren't using as much as they hoped. This means it's the ones that aren't as effective to use. Duh.
So, we have far more limitations than we should with this already but maybe the Fragments or Aspects can be a game-changer. Oh... There's no unique Aspects and they're just one from each subclass you can have on at a time.
Okay, so the Fragments though, right? They're gonna have some real synergy. Something like, a Powered Solar Melee Final Blow triggers an immediate Ignition; all enemies affected by the Ignition take Increased Strand Damage from all sources for a period of time. Or, when you hit a Major or Champion with your Stasis Grenade, they will trigger Jolt more frequently from Arc Abilities; so, like, instead of getting Jolted 2-3 times with, say, a Thundercrash, they'll get Jolted 4-5 times as it's triggering faster thanks to the Stasis Grenade effect. Some actual synergy that will empower the other abilities from other subclasses. Oh... Oh, none of them do that. They're all totally "this or that" and in no-way have any of that synergy of blending subclasses together.
So... Why wouldn't I just keep my Solar build? I can make all those things work together and improve upon abilities and matching weapons. Same for any subclass. But Prismatic doesn't have any actual synergy between subclasses. It's just, you can have one thing of each subclass but they don't actually work together.

When the director leaves before launch there is little to justify pre orders.
