You most likely unlocked the sparrow but didn’t do the quest to get the permanent one. You had to get top 10 percent in nightfall strikes, collect 1000 medals, or open 3 focused winner packages.

I was there when she did the 3 focus packages route as i did the same.

It's wasn't focus packages you needed it was winners engrams and it is not listed in her collections which to me says she didn't unlock it.
