Cause they didn’t like the theme. Look at how D2 radically changed the design theme for our gear. That shows a strong distaste for the OG theme and vibe.

  • I know. To be very honest, I don’t think they like the game as much as they claim. Not so much that they dislike it in general, more so like it’s been such a headache they just want it to be over. That’s evidenced by them ending the Dark and Light saga while the other threats still remain. So they do the minimum and use fluff instead of making a fleshed out world.

I missed the days when they really cared about world building—I’m big on lore. Even minor curios like scannables added a substrate of depth to the open worlds. They stopped doing those, even removed the ones that used to be on Nessus, the EDZ, and the Tower. For that reason I praise the archives of Ishtar Collective! In particular I think that their “vision” for Destiny 2 has drifted from what, to me, made Destiny’s lore so great, and why I love it; enigma, and mystery. The Darkness was once an enigma. Now it is a big bad guy, who, no matter how much development of his civilisation they provide in the Final Shape CE, feels like a shallow attempt at giving the saga a final evil guy, who pales in comparison to the frightening mystery of the Darkness. His origins undermine, to me, the mystery of the pyramids and Unveiling (uh oh). Just my opinion. When did Destiny’s lore go from Ghost Fragment: Legends 2 to the wish wall being inscribed on a wing, leading the story to conveniently introduce another (I’m growing tired of them) Awoken season about getting eggs. This season’s story is a grindy Cursebreaker triumph!

  •
cared about world building
Making crap up as they went along.
I’m big on lore.
You're big on mediocrity!
I think that their “vision” for Destiny 2 has drifted
To have a vision, you also need constraints and consistency! In case, you didn't know or couldn't tell, this trashfire has neither! It drifts around on a whim! HAHAH!
from what, to me, made Destiny’s lore so great, and why I love it; enigma, and mystery.
So you love it because you conflate "enigma and mystery" with "undercooked and meandering"! What a surprise!
The Darkness was once an enigma.
Was once undercooked. They had nary a plan for it!
Oh, good! At least you made it back up on your feet!
Just my opinion.
Nope! The Shitpiss is an objectively bad poorly-executed villain! That much is true!
When did Destiny’s lore go from Ghost Fragment: Legends 2 to the wish wall being inscribed on a wing, leading the story to conveniently introduce another (I’m growing tired of them) Awoken season about getting eggs. Why did you also pick a Ghost Fragment that basically spells out they're just throwing crap at a wall until it sticks? HAHAHAH!

I also feel that so much of Destiny’s storytelling has gone from unique frames of context and setting to basing themselves off tropes.
