Wholeheartedly agree; the entire idea is toxic. -Pinnacle PvP where rewards are based on skill? That would be a ladder system, and should have PvP-focused rewards (e.g. Rose and the other Comp rewards, with perk pools filled with PvP perks) -Quick PvP that caters to all? That would just be standard CBMM Crucible. Trials is a PvP mode where the rewards are often designed to draw in PvE players (because seriously, who uses a Legendary Trace or Glaive in PvP; what kind of PvP player wants things like Subsistence clogging up their perk pools). It exists purely to feed regular players to sweats to keep them interested in the game. If it was purely about prestige, the rewards would be extremely flashy cosmetics; something unavoidable, not just a different pattern on a gun that almost no one else will even notice you have.

Playing Trials is honestly feels you’re entering a store at midnight during a Black Friday sale, fighting over an item. And only best (yet sweatiest) fireteam that has the better chance to obtain a loot, while the loser gets their time wasted and Crucible Engram. But honestly, wishing trials to not exist may be a good or a bad idea, but it would’ve been nice if Trails have different types with different rules. Like best 2 out of 3 with no revives or Momentum version or trials. Because it’s get stale playing the same type of match every weekend, while playing on the same map based on what the community voted for.

Trials came out in House of Wolves and use to be 9 wins. It was never half baked as it was intended to be the pinnacle of PvP for the game where the best competed to go to the lighthouse. Just because youre bad and dont like it because you cant compete doesnt mean the mode is bad.
