I get it, the idea is that you find guardians who are experienced and know what they are doing. Only issue there is, that isn't what a guardian rank is. No matter how skilled or otherwise you might be at the game there is no getting past guardian rank 6 as a free to play player.
Even if you buy the annual expansion, rank 7 still requires buying the dungeon key and the seasons. I for one am not prepared to spend +$60 to get into LFGs of people who don't understand why guardian ranks are pay to progress. I admit that the later guardian ranks are skill based but they require owning all the content in the game which is just so much money and excludes much of the player base based on money, not skill.

Edited by Oogyman: 12/7/2023 11:20:27 PMYeah, those are pretty pointless. I mean, I guess if people want to use them, ok. I know I just paid the big chunk last expansion to just have everything unlocked, and I still couldn't care less about the Guardian ranks, especially because they reset. I just won't waste my time with that kind of pointless crap. Only did it with light levels because that's what we had to do to engage with content. Glad they quit raising those. I don't see a reason to pursue these because they don't really prove anything besides accomplishing something the devs put out. I don't feel it equates to "knowledge" it just exists. Its like Triumphs. I don't care about those either unless it actually gives something like higher drop rates for exotic stuff. Its just a chore list otherwise. I know some like that, which is fine, but just existing should be enough if its just about personal accomplishments. The world doesn't need to know any of that stuff, nor do most care, I'd think. Maybe I'm wrong. Besides, if Bungie is so worried about space and memory issues with Destiny, why are they filling this game up with this crap? It should all be going towards valuable content and functionality.

I’m forever Rank 5. The virtue signaling in this game, and the waste of development time, and screen space associated with commendations is ridiculous. I can’t be the only Rank 10/11 who can’t be bothered to go through the trouble of clicking through numerous menus and clicking on “triumph” tabs. The number of tabs to click in this game is full on -blam!-. Turning a game into homework is not fun ….
-
Yeah. It’s always funny to see speedruns or try hard trials games with rank 6 or 7 players. It’s definitely not a perfect reflection.

Don't like it? Post your own team with your own requirements
-
Or: Guardian Ranks should be permanent up to lvl 10. Let 11 be the number that shows your commitment to the current season, the current raid and dungeon and put them in lower levels once the season is over. With Ranks beeing an option in the fireteam finder I get punished for not playing much last season (or this season, I don't know which number counts). With thousands of hours of playtime, plenty of raidclears and every dungeon s/f. And we all know that people will use this option. And I'm tired of guardian ranks, pure fomo-hamsterwheel with no purpose. If they'd be permanent... fine.

People that create the lfg can use whatever filters they want. Saying it shouldn't be an option cause you might not be able to join is not a reason. With that said, even if you are a low guardian rank, there will be plenty of lfgs you can join that don't use it as a filter requirement. Or you can create your own lfg not using the filter.
-
Just use this app, what have you been doing with your life.
-
If the person making the group wants to use the filter, let them. Who cares. If I want you to have 12 toes, 3 arms, and a second head in order to join my group, then that's up to me to sit there with my empty fireteam. Guardian Ranks aren't pay to progress. They are pay to ACCESS past level 6. There is nothing you can buy in this game that will increase your Guardian Rank so calling them pay to progress is just incorrect.

Guardian rank is pointless. I purposely do not rank up and it would be hilarious to me if someone judged my ability to play the game because i prefer the number 6 to any other worthless number over my head.

Edited by Kouz_MC: 12/5/2023 7:00:02 AMYes, guardian ranks are an incentive to buy all the content. Said it since day1. Simple manipulation. Bungie lost more players than improved revenues from this very gaslighting move. I can’t wait for all the last aficionados who act like they are not going to buy next year’s pass to buy it day one after they realize they won’t be able to level up their guardian ranks without owning the whole package.

Edited by Guardian,Archon Of Light: 12/4/2023 11:40:10 PMWhat would be ironic would be to put a no toxic and a max guardian rank tag on your post lol But to get to rank 10, you have to do all the raids, so it would make sense in a raid post , but nowhere else

In my opinion guardian ranks don't mean anything. Some people just can't be arsed to do the challenges and rank up. I respect that. If I make a LFG post I don't check anything about the other players. I'll accept anyone. (Generally most accept me ha). There's some really good fun, great gamers out there I've gamed with. Most probably better than me and helped me through stuff I've not done before. I'm only rank 6. My main challenge I can't finish is weekly mission on neptune, as I haven't finished bluejay quest. Got bored of it. Might go back and complete at some point. I class myself as an average gamer. Not great but not terrible. I've seen worse ha. I suppose my point is that ranks and titles don't really mean much in this game. You can't judge anyone by statistics etc

It’s a tradition that harkens back to forever 29 and “must have Gjallarhorn.”

Sounds like guardian ranks might be donkeying operation some sort.
