It's abundantly clear that building into restoration on a solar subclass is necessary for endgame content.
Heck, Bungie has recently even stated that they've been designing around Restoration, hence the nerfs.
Hunter is the only class that can't build into it with an exotic. Warlocks have the gauntlets (which are stupid good with Vexcalibur. You're dang near immortal.) and Titans have two helmets.
Like I get Hunter is supposed to be the glass cannon class, but for no restoration options Hunters are getting no better add clear (arguably just worse), no better major clear, and marginally better boss damage (with an exotic) than the other two classes? That makes ZERO sense, considering the current PvE landscape of high add density and the requirment for survivability.
I'd like to not have to either use healing nade (which limits gunpowder gamble uptime) or three fragments just to have decent restoration uptime on Hunter, especially since the fragment route is bugged since Firesprites reset your restoration timer.
And honestly, there isn't even a gunpowder gamble exotic.
In fact, the most meta way to play Gunslinger in endgame PvE is to abandon the Hunter identity and use healing grenade, no gunpowder gamble, 100 resilience, and ignore your mobility stat almost entirely. That makes zero sense.
Idea:
Ace in the Hole: Improved gunpowder gamble damage, radius, and cooldown. Solar ignition kills grant restoration.
They could be exotic boots with a bunch of makeshift explosive parts on the belt or something.
