Why on earth would you take away regular control [i]10 years[/i] into the game’s lifecycle? How does it even make sense to have, as the only options for people who want to play 6v6 this week: 1. Checkmate control, a mode which Blackburn’s most recent video admits is [i]forcing[/i] players to beta test the mode for Bungie. Also Checkmate resembles D2 Y1 so much so that it makes one wonder wth Bungie is thinking. [i]A lot [/i] of people were reportedly so dissatisfied with Y1 that the game had to be remade, quickly. What would possess you to create a mode that even remotely resembles Y1, then FORCE it into control to make ppl play it. The psychologically is not difficult here. If there aren’t enough people playing checkmate when it’s a separate list, guess what? There’s your answer. Most ppl don’t like it. 2. Rift. This mode has been so reviled for the longest time that it is perplexing that it would appear alongside a beta test mode. It was so bad in IB that “wipe, no fight” parties became so prevalent that rift had to be removed from IB. These “throw” parties were so common that I was even placed in matches where BOTH parties were trying to throw the match. In comp, players routinely voiced their disgust with the mode, for seasonS, until Bungie relented and [i]finally[/i] removed it. Why would you continuously and repeatedly try to force a mode on players that so many lambast? In fact, in the announcement removing rift from comp you said it might make a come back in the future. You keep on trying to iterate on something that so many people hate fundamentally. [i]Stop beating a dead horse.[/i] 3. Relic really? As far as I can tell. It’s the mode where high skill players go to avoid SBMM and then go farming by never picking up the relic. It is asinine for these three modes to coexist at the same time. A normal mode that people are familiar with and don’t generally hate should replace any of these three. Taking away normal control to try and force people to play checkmate is bulls41t. If the mode were that great people would’ve flocked to it last season. They didn’t so now you’ve decided to give them no choice. This bulls41t is the same as replacing trials and control with IB when IB is up. If IB were that great people would actually jump in without being corralled by your removing trials and control. It is a you problem if IB is underpopulated when regular control and trials are up. Get the message already. It means the people in control and trials thinks IB sucks. It’s not an invitation to remove control and trials during IB week.
