Daybreak has been my favorite super since was introduced at the beginning of D2. My only ever gripe with it was that it just lacked in single target damage output. Once Well of Radiance was introduced, Daybreak has been overshadowed as a sub-par pick over Well.
Dawn Chorus was eventually introduced and brought Daybreak's damage output up to respectable levels. However, its existence creates a new problem. Unless you're using Dawn Chorus, Daybreak is practically worthless in higher-end PvE activities. I feel like I HAVE to use Dawn Chorus if I want to use Daybreak. I would like to propose a few changes to alleviate this grievance and allow choosing Daybreak over Well to be a respectable choice.
For Daybreak:
I would like to have Dawn Chorus's damage bonus cut and its ability to cause Daybreak's projectiles to scorch removed and added to Daybreak at base. Daybreak would then to around 40%-50% more at base, but only about ~75% of what it can currently do with Dawn Chorus. I would then like to propose the idea of another idea that could allow it to be sought after. I have two ideas:
1) Allow Daybreak to also apply D1's Viking Funeral, but add a desirable twist. It's only a 10% damage bonus, but it's the only debuff that stacks with other damage debuffs.
2) My other idea is make it so causing an ignition with Daybreak lowers the damage output of the target by something massive, like 50%, to allow much higher survivability for the group.
With these changes, Daybreak could offer some potent utility without relying on just doing huge damage. Players would no longer feel pressured into feeling Dawn Chorus was mandatory to use Daybreak.
For Dawn Chorus:
We've removed half of Dawn Chorus's benefits, but instead of filling in the other half, I'd like to just propose a complete re-work of this Exotic helmet. With the removal of DC's +200% damage bonus to scorch, I'd like to allow scorch to just do 75% to 100% more damage at base. Dawn Chorus's new exotic perk could be "Causing an ignition grants a pulse of radiant energy from you, Curing(x1) yourself and nearby allies, as well as granting Radiance (about 8 seconds) and Restoration(x1 for about 2 seconds). While Radiant, your abilities recharge faster (amount can be determined)."
This change would allow Daybreak to additionally offer constant Radiance and healing to nearby allies, essentially offering the benefits of an off-brand Well of Radiance. Daybreak with Dawn Chorus could then be just as overall useful as Well of Radiance (maybe actually a tad more so since it requires use of your exotic slot), but if you have other means of damage bonuses and healing, Dawn Chorus's Daybreak bonuses could be overridden and not necessary, making Dawn Chorus not a mandatory pick, but still a desirable one.
Daybreak needs a melee action like a normal sword and have intrinsic anti barrier. Let swords act like swords
