Basic explanation is that on rare occasion after dying and then respawning (at least from what I've observed in the Crucible), the player's sprint speed will become locked to the same speed as strafing, making you very immobile. Dying and then respawning again in the same session does NOT fix the issue. If it is a round-based mode, the issue persists until the next round starts.
Some people might think it's possibly the transmat effect issue that came up earlier, but this is not the same thing. I'm not using the Highly Commendable transmat effect and I've had this issue occur twice randomly in the Crucible within the last two weeks, though both times it seems to have happened while I was trying to melee-lunge an enemy and died at the same time.
Other differences compared to the Highly Commendable issue is that unlike the transmat effect's issue, you can still shoot and use abilities just fine as it just affects your sprint speed. The first time it happened to me, I did not have much time left in the match to troubleshoot the issue and couldn't come up with anything.
However, the second time it happened, knowing that the transmat effect issue was a thing despite not having it, just to see what would happen, I tried to swap out my ship real quick while still in the match. Then the issue went away.
Due to time constraints and computer-related issues, I was not able to capture any footage of the issue and I cannot seem to replicate it that easily. But I'm concerned that something might be really wrong with the spawn system in general rather than just one transmat effect. The issue could possibly become worse and more widespread if not looked into carefully.
If anyone else has encountered this issue, your feedback would be appreciated. Even better if someone has footage of the issue.

Remove the Highly Commendable transmat effect on your ship. It's known to cause these issues, and Bungie removed the ability to purchase it from the Eververse store as a result.
