I doubt you'll ever see this Bungie, but if you do please take this into consideration.
Back in the day, during the D1 Days, you guys left behind the Xbox 360/PS3 before the Rise of Iron launched. Not only did it allow you to expand Destiny 1 to lengths you couldn't possibly do before but it gave you the opportunity for you to give us Destiny 2. Well, the time has now come again. I understand that pre-Covid and during Covid, it was difficult to obtain an Xbox Series X/S and PS5. But now these consoles are very easily obtained and now are in most homes. Or people have switched to PC. Not only with far more powerful hardware, but with far more storage space as well. If you truly want The Final Shape to be the best it can be, leave old gen behind. It will allow you to go nuts, and maybe bring back old content (big maybe). I hope some of you see this at least.
A recent community chat with Evanf1997, Gladd, and ManoDestra revealed that you guys need a separate build of the game to run on the old gen consoles which bogs down progress. If this is true please reconsider supporting old gen.
Edit: After seeing some of the comments I realize I should've posed this as a question rather than an actual feedback response. It was a mistake and I probably should've thought it out more. So I should probably ask, do you guys think old gen should be left behind? Or do you think Bungie should come out with a Destiny 3 on current gen only?
Edit 2: I've added the YouTube link to the video in question. Yes it's a long video but you can skip to the part. Timestamp where Gladd talks about this is 1:32:15. You guys can make your own opinions on the matter afterwords.

People still play on consoles? What a wacky world we live in.

reeee content creator in post reeee downvoted and reported for harassment
-
Time to leave gladd and his kin behind.
-
I won’t be giving these blowhards the time of day I’m afraid. If people need to watch some egotistical youtuber to form their opinions for them then they might want to also consider some serious counselling.

Nothing about D2's current issues have anything to do with the generation of console. Bungie had to leave behind the 360 and PS3 because from 2005 to 2016 we made great leaps in progress in the tech department. From 2016 to 2023 we've made no such leaps. The Xbox Series X is only marginally better than an Xbox One X The issue with Destiny is the management being garbage at their jobs and hiding out of sight so they can shy away from any accountability
-
I’d say half of console players are all on old gen. They aren’t doing a great job of attracting new players.
-
Old Gen needs to go. Like the PS3& Xbox 360 days.
-
dropping old gens right before the big finale looks like a massive ef-yu to those players. I agree that Beyond light would've been a much better moment to drop old gens, but now I think they better do the following: next year release, as usual, will remove all seasonal content from the current year, this will free up some space for old gens. since old gens are already on a separate dev branch, create a simplified version of TFS for old gens, only story and raid. then everything else, together with the return of Y1-Y2 content, can be added only to the version for current gen consoles and PC

thanks for the timestamp! that's what I was interested in in this video but sitting through a 2-hour podcast is not my thing
-
More like they don't make good optimization so the game doesn't take a long time to load for old gen
-
No one cares about fake famous streamers opinions and videos. People just want a working game that doesn't nickel dime the players for scraps of content 🤣

Edited by Ghost-Raven: 11/10/2023 8:53:18 PMGiven what happened recently I don’t think bungie is really in a position to lose out on potential pre orders by cutting off the older generation of consoles at this time.

Are you internet explorer? You are so behind…
-
I think they should have dumped old gen at LF.

Edited by Lt_Cantoni: 11/11/2023 7:12:59 AMThe tiger engine which was overhauled from the balm engine is older than most people that play this game
-
This point didn't require any link to any YouTube video. Cross gen being held back by previous gen if they share the same ecosystem is common knowledge.
-
A d3 reset would probably kill the both games, getting rid of last Gen and revitalizing the game with content already paid for but removed would be nice alongside a new model of selling old dlc
-
Like I said and will forever say, they should’ve dropped Last Gen when TWQ released. If Bungie were ever serious about actually supporting this game for more than a decade they would’ve dropped last gen already years ago.
-
I don't think People still can afford a Ps5 or Xbox X/S, the overall price in 450€ (this is the italy price) which not all teen or adolescent can afford.

Edited by blairwitch749: 11/11/2023 12:26:36 PMMore than 60 percent of psn sales/subscriptions are still on ps4. Even though Sony swore up and down that god of war would be the last in house title that would be backwards compatible they are full of it Ps6 is due to come out in late 2026, there is literally no point in bungie or anyone else ending old gen support of anything until Sony and Microsoft force the issue by terminating support which they just won’t this particular upgrade cycle The current generation of gamers is also not going to accept that forced upgrade either. There will be mountains of lawsuits trying to force support for the next 10 years. It took Microsoft 18 years to extricate themselves from windows xp and 7 and they have still have huge lawsuits lingering from it Sony still is being continuously sued for ending their parts manufacturing for ps3 and still is under a court order to keep providing security updates for it

Nothing is wrong with Last gen consoles.

IMO, to answer your more edited questions/ideas. 1. Yes they should leave old gen consoles behind. 2. If Destiny 2 continues after TFS expansion, that would be when old gen is left behind. I think all content during TFS will be old gen. That way old gen users can finish out the large Light/ Dark saga. 3. If a completely new Destiny game, (Destiny 3 or whatever) was made, I hope it would only run on current gen consoles/ + any future gen consoles. The old gen consoles should be left behind by then. 4. Personally, if a future Destiny game is made, I hope that a different company under Sony makes it. I just feel like Bungie hasn’t done a good job with Destiny 2 recently and they don’t seem to keep up with the times. Anyways, that’s just my take.

Edited by TheShadow: 11/11/2023 12:06:12 AM
If you truly want The Final Shape to be the best it can be, leave old gen behind.
Sure, as if sales are booming. Wait, you want to see this business shut down don't you? I can get behind this knowing that most of the player base is on the last gen that will buy a new system just to play "TFS"
😂
Hopefully will happen post final shape year of content if they do more after it:
-
you do realize that the game was coded and written for the old gen consoles so its got built in limitations and thats the reason when theres alot of issues it effects new gen more . they cant make fs a stand alone for just new gen because it requires the base game written for old consoles. the only thing removing old gen consoles would do at this point is destroy an already depleted player base... and fyi 80% of my friends list is still on ps4 ... pretty sure they wont be turning to streamers for more input considering thats what got them into this mess and they need fs to save their rep on this game so hope for destiny3 thats the only way your seeing older consoles left behind
-
At this point, they won't do that. Final Shape preorders are so bad, it forced Bungie to lay off several people. And that's across all platforms D2 is playable on. Can you imagine how much worse the preorder numbers would be if Bungie decided to drop PS4 and XBX1? Keeping those two around is probably the only thing saving Bungie from going completely broke.
