Bungie: Please implement incentives for players to take people who DON'T "KWTD" through raids/dungeons/GMs etc...

There really needs to be some sort of top tier incentive/rewards for players who don't always require that someone "KWTD" to participate in raids, dungeons, GMs etc... As someone who doesn't have a dedicated group of people to run with on a regular basis, I am RARELY able to do raids for a couple reasons and therefore never have a chance to get any raid loot as a result... 1: Being the aforementioned reason of not having a team to coordinate with. And 2: (More importantly) Being that when I LFG for a team, they ALMOST ALWAYS require that you "KWTD".... I am in no way blaming people for not wanting to spend their time in game wiping over and over because they are having to teach people mechanics and strategies, while also simultaneously not being given any extra incentive to do so aside from the already expected loot. So IMO, there really needs to be an incentive system for teaching and carrying people who don't otherwise have the time or means to do so. This current situation negatively impacts the casual/newer player experience by essentially telling them that they may never be able to complete some of the most fun things to do in the game because the veterans are, at no fault of their own, gatekeeping activities to other veterans who KWTD... People can't be expected to KWTD if they are never given the opportunity to play it in the first place... (Again, at no fault of the players who are looking to get their quick raid completions for the week and or weapon farms done). This is simply a systemic problem with the current reward structure of the game itself... SO PLEASE, maybe instead of guardian ranks being just a sort of "Hey look what all I did to reach a higher number than you", maybe make the top tiers actually grant TANGIBLE rewards for the players who do, in fact, sherpa people with no or few clears. (I.E, guaranteed Deepsights at time of completion on top of chest rewards, or exclusive emblems and shaders for a certain amount of Sherpa runs.) *Edit* Also a physical representation of their runs with people who have 0 clears and a special title next to their name or something (that would be something to poll the carry community about), that reflects how helpful they are to the community would be a nice touch. Food for thought to help keep newer or casual players engaged.

  • Just a thought what about a weekly encounter, just one part of a raid that could be match made. Just for learning no raid gear would drop just cores or whatever maybe seasonal gear, also with hints at the bottom of the screen. Just a idea 🤷‍♂️

  • There's typically an exclusive emblem for each raid that only unlocks for the player after they carry 10 people to a completion for just this purpose. Crota's End had "Hope Eater" which was pretty nice looking. And the emblems can only be earned up to a certain time, so it incentivizes collectors to get those newbies in quick. But yes: I do agree that more incentives would be great. Maybe a yearly gilding of raid titles with 10 carries + a yearly flawless or something to give people a reason to re-run older raids with newer people.

    • i used to be a sherpa, for gms and all sorts of raids. At some point my biggest problem was that too many players didnt want to learn anything, they where just looking for someone to carry them through, root of nightmares is a joke, and not so hard for two players to carry, but good luck in master vow of disciple or vault of glass same for grandmasters, take an unpopular and frustrating one like moon, mars or glassway and not only die a lot, but also quit before finishing also, usually getting a raid team that doesnt know what to do means it will take too many hours, and mostly for the first problem that too many players put zero effort in learning and just want to do ad clear and be carried through without putting any effort into it, so everything takes longer then needed and another huge problem is the lack of patience - didnt one phase final boss? they quit we wiped 4 or 5 times? they quit / someone has a lodout they dont like? they whine and quit at the end we spend a lot of time waiting around for other players to join, especially in unpopular raids

    • They should have designed Raids so that you can play them blind without having to read a guide before hand. Or have in game instructions. Common Bungie L

      • As someone who loves teaching raids, ill tell you right now that this is never gonna go away. No matter how much incentive bungie provides, if you dont put in a serious amount of elbow grease to put a team together, learn what to do, and build correctly for it, youre always gonna have problems with this. For one reason, and one reason only. Raids take a long time to clear. Only the best of the best, with a team thats dedicated, will clear a raid in any amount of time that could be described as "quickly." Same with dungeons, and to a much lesser extent, gms. The average person just wants the loot, and they dont wanna spend all day getting it. Easiest way to guarantee that is to ensure that nobody on the team is new to the activity, or needs to be taught. No amount of incentive will change that. I like teaching raids, personally, but i can only do it if i have the time and the energy, because if you get even slightly unlucky with the newbies, you could add multiple hours to your run. Even if bungie handed out the strongest guns in the game for free if you did teaching clears, thatd still only go so far, because people dont have that much free time to go round.

      • I don't bother with raids anymore, better to skip the content entirely than to force myself into content that isn't enjoyable.

      • TLDR Make an LFG. Put “first time run. Need Sherpa” Watch YT vids on how to do raid/dungeon. Ask clan. Ask friends. Players need to Grow up and stop expecting a company to cater to “please carry me” crowds.

I dont raid because people dont want to raid and teach you how to do the encounters.

        • Currently the only reward is an emblem for 10 raid Carries, and once people get it, they usually don’t go for any more help runs. Because of this, it’s usually easiest to get a teacher in the first weeks of a raids release.

        • There are a few things you can do to help your situation. 1. Join a clan that raids and does GMS and endgame content. Many have additional chats in discord as well as using the app to set up Sherpa runs. 2. Study up. Sometimes going in with even a little knowledge of the activity or a strategy goes a long way. 3. Become a sponge. If a veteran player gives you insight, tactics, or gives you instruction on a new strat add it to your pile of gold. There's more than one way to get things done. 4. Be patient, be kind, be helpful. If you want help, I guarantee you have something to offer to a new player as well. Be the change you want to see. 5. Understand that endgame content is hard, and give yourself time to be at the appropriate level. Build your survivability and skills so you can be an asset rather than a liability. Hope this helps 🥰

It would be unfair to get mad at others who also dont know what to do when you yourself do not. I literally had a raid night ruined because a guy joined, lied and refused to leave (was on Discord) when we found out he had 0 raid clears at all, he tried gilt tripping everyone to help him

          • I really dont know why we need any of this. I used to Sherpa alot when i played, and theres honestly nothing bungie could give me to keep doing it. Ever since then i just threw NWTD on each Run. And stop with the GateKeeping C###! No one is gatekeeping the BlueBerries from looking up a YT video or a Guide and then making their own LFG.
This is simply a systemic problem with the current reward structure of the game itself...
No its NOT! They should do what we had to do. Go in with enough Information and figure it Out. Again they can make their own LFG with their own Rules. They need to stop being lazy and....how did Shia LaBeouf put it... JUST DO IT!

          • FYI: To most people KWTD just means “did you watch the guide video on YouTube?” and “Can you stay alive and not die from random enemies?” In my experience, the first couple weeks after a raid or dungeon comes out - there are plenty of lfg posts for newer players. And while there are definitely some terrible people on the internet, but just watching a video and not dying you’ll probably see a much better experience

            • I stopped sherpaing raids ever since I got a lobby full of people with junk loadouts and no weapons to do proper damage mechanics are easy damage is the big issue some people have. To be honest the taipan still does decent damage I have no idea why no new player decide to craft it. Than again this game is very weird when it comes to buying expansions it’s a huge mess

            • one thing that is maybe a hard pill for some to swallow is that this game is designed around clans, friendships, and generally durable relationships. even not so great clans i have been in have taken pride in teaching new people raids. it's like a culturally engrained thing among social players. so, maybe give being social a try. find a clan. i have significant anxiety issues, but i want to play the whole game, so i bit the bullet and found a great clan to play with. we have teaching raids all the time.

            • I carried 2 people thru ghost of the deep the other night. Post said they needed help and I was really just in it for the commendation 🤣 it was some kid and a guy who never ran it. Got them all the way to the final boss, something happened to the kid for being afk (I think he got in trouble honestly lol) but he rejoined and then left again, so we 2 manned the final boss hoping the kid would join up before we finished. I ended up getting the exotic which I didn't have and I already solo flawlessed it so I didn't really feel like continuing to run it. But just the exotic drop made it worth it. I think a guaranteed exotic drop would be a fine incentive to start

Put a Tutorial mode in that gives no rewards and drops hints as to what to do. Enemies do little to no damage. Allows people to learn with no pressure. More experienced players are free to learn blind while the less experienced, capable, and/or confident can learn at their own pace. Increases the pool of players who know what to do, everyone wins. Simples.

I will die on this hill but all the content should be solobale. Never had I ever had a great experience playing with radomes. I can get 3 friends but 6 at the same time? Who do u think I am bungie? 🤣🤣🤣
