It's actually weird because the answer to why it doesn't work could be slightly less meaningless than we think. Although very much not a big deal.

Yeah, my assumption is that it's only tracking the old Festivals, that for whatever reason it doesn't look at anything from the past 2 or 3 years, but it has the information from the original few years. I only really came to this conclusion because there's a Reddit thread from 2020 with the same complaint, and there's been no change since. I'm not angry about it, but it does kinda suck that I can't attach something more relevant to the emblem than, like, my season rank, or element kills

Yeah I've noticed it the last few years as well. Definitely not in any way an important issue but the goofiness of showing how much candy you collected is just that, goofiness. There's just some things about this game that can be conspicuously missing sometimes. Now if it's so bad that some people just get disgusted by seeing high goofy numbers like that then there should be options to shield yourself from seeing it because it's not like the the people don't have the high numbers still. And for people that enjoy that kind of goofy it's giving them less reason to play.
