Getting Rid of Shards is a slap to the face to long time players
I have been playing Destiny 2 since it came out. I've never missed a season. I love the game. I've been through all the highs and lows. Most of the time when I hear bad news or a bad change, I usually can just shrug it off and know that it will be for the better of the game, or if it isn't it will get changed.
This change hurt though.
It feels as though all that time I've been playing is wasted. This is the same feeling that came with sunsetting. It is a dangerous path to walk down because if players don't feel like their time is valued, then they will go play another game. There are LOTS of games out there. If Bungie wants players to stick around indefinitely then they need to make the players time worth the investment.
How about instead of removing legendary shards, make it so you can add more perks onto guns through crafting or some other long term goal to work towards.
Bungie removing currency that I've spent 7 years amassing feels bad because that is long term progress I am losing. If all my progress gets reset constantly (like every single season (currency, power, artifact, etc.) there will come a time it will just not be worth it to play anymore.
