Legendary shards are not hard to earn. The amount of glimmer is. I can earn thousands of shards without trying. Glimmer, however, prevents me from doing way more. Increase the cap or give us another option to trade for glimmer. Like shards, prisms, or other things I get more than the cap for.

Edited by Oogyman: 9/18/2023 5:07:49 PMWe can exchange shards at any time for Glimmer. I realized I had to yesterday. Was at 2000 some left😂. I guess I'm confused about this post a bit, though that Glimmer cap better double after they take away shards. Oh. I do feel Glimmer is kind of a harder resource to earn, not because its rare, we get it from everything, but to get alot at one time you have to do do Public events, which nobody wants to do, which I understand. I don't do them either. They're just not enjoyable, though I am kind of over the Destiny grind too. They ruined that.

Bungie could have "fixed" the shard issue years ago by just lowering the required amounts, or increasing the amount given for dismantling. In their never-ending quest to be Bungie: Dictator of Destiny though, they decide to take instead of give. If they really wanted to simplify or streamline the economy (and if anybody wants to get smart and say there is no economy because there's no trading, I traded shards to Hawthorne for raid banners, so don't @ me...), then why do they keep adding them? Witches Keys, Terminal Overload Keys, Exotic Ciphers, Nightfall Ciphers, Red and white golf balls, etc.
-
U can trade shardq for glimmer. But yes to the rest
-
I totally disagree! Glimmer is very easy to come by.,
-
Edited by Slevi: 9/14/2023 7:49:20 PMI don't know why they don't give us something to roll shards with. At this point, I don't need 500 raid banners. I gotta trade legendary shards for something of better value.
-
That’s why they are trying to get rid of unlimited resources - they want you grind even more than now. Time to say goodbye
-
OK, Bungo use the excuse to attract or accessible to new players is kinda bull sheet. You wanna attract new players, you fix the monetization on dlc or expansion. Also update the freaking core activities! Hell, I don't even care if they reskin the D1 strikes. Its interesting to see those strikes in D2 sandbox. Battleground are not strikes! How do people get interested if the core activities are subpar compare to the paid stuff?

As a long time player who has always ensured to grow my bank account of shards, as well as planetary materials, it pains me to see shards leaving however, the piss off is that there is no exchange for anything else in the game. Why do we have to have parity between those who want to earn, do earn and will continue to earn, and those who do not? If you played starting today, there is no reason you should have instant access to things. You need to learn, progress, grow and experience the game and make good choices on what you spend. Again, getting rid of the shards is just another kickin the teeth for those long time players who again get ripped off in favor of the free to play fly by night casual players.

This is kinda thing why video games are in an mess and studios keep on going under because they never learn and always listen to people like this that do nothing but being apologetic for companies.
-
The BS argument that some people exploited to hundreds of thousands of shards so the economy is warped, Well the exact same is said for enhancement cores. Whos betting in the final shape season pass they will have shards in the track that cannot be claimed too :P
-
Let's be honest. We all know they got rid of shards because they got pissy at people farming them with exploits, and whenever they patched said exploits, people finding more.
-
Do public events in the EDZ ... ghost shell with tier 6 glimmer boost ... 14k-15k a pop ... cap glimmer in no time ...
-
I don't agree with the proposed changes, from the information we've been given, but I at least see where they're coming from. I have far more Legendary Shards than I will ever need, as do many other players, but I also know people that struggle to have as many as they need. If the costs are low enough that anyone can reasonably afford them, then some players might as well have an infinite amount and will never need to think about using them - as it is now. If the costs are high enough that those players do need to consider things, then players without a huge hoard of Shards will never be able to afford anything. Now is definitely the time to raise the Glimmer cap, to 500k at least. The changes to Engram cost are absurd, but I will forgive them somewhat if they better-incorporate rolls with multiple perks per column.

Edited by Joulevette12: 9/14/2023 8:54:47 PMIdk why ppl also not talking about the engram cost 😑 it's way too high imagine turning in 5 engrams after doing 4-5 strikes for one NF weapon focus only to give you snapshot+tresh roll even more so for IB weapons This will make players not spend engrams at all and just stack them up making it tedious and repetitive each season since it resets each season I still rather spend 5 engrams then do a NF for a low drop chance for weapons Especially in IB Need to go from 5 to 3 engrams
-
WTF are you talking about? Glimmer is the easiest resource to acquire in the game.
-
Glimmer can be acquired by anybody at any point fairly easy. Shards require a bunch of grinding and legendary loot to drop. How the hell do people not understand that?
-
Cry about it
-
If you can earn that many shards then glimmer isn't an issue either, since you can trade 10 shards for 10k glimmer.
-
Maybe trade those shards for glimmer or for legendary/exotic engrams. Or maybe trade shards for prisms or enhancement cores. Would be pointless from this. But when shards will be taken out, I will save at least 7 shards and vault it as a momento like with the box of raisins and the used toothbrush

The economy team has made terrible decisions since the first game. They simply cannot balance currencies around the different kinds of players in this game, and constantly try to pull hardcore or engaged players back to the start with the casuals and new players. This completely ignores the fact that the hardcore and experienced will put the effort into overcoming whatever new roadblocks are in the way, while the casual and new players won't and are often left even more broke than before because of the "protections" put in place because of players who will always play more/better than they do. The fact that they aren't giving us any kind of exchange is laughable. Shards have been the primary reward for most of us for ages now, so all of that is getting flushed away. Ridiculous. Also, I could be wrong because I don't usually focus gear, but didn't they just massively increase the cost of the gear, now requiring multiple engrams to focus a single piece?
-
Edited by mxgreg: 9/14/2023 8:35:49 PMIt's a pointless -blam!- move meant to screw over players. They always seem to figure out ways to screw people out of rewards It already sucks when you are trying to do builds, etc., and have to go grind out glimmer because of the ridiculously low cap. They could have easily allowed us to exchange shards for glimmer or cores. No need to get rid of them. Between greed and dumb decisions, it's getting old.
-
Heroic public events give like 12K +. Dismantling anything gives glimmer. Legendary shards are a barrier to entry for a lot of people. I’ve got almost 100K and have zero need for them.
-
Glimmer isn’t that hard to get

I can farm guranteed Glimmer 14k at a time soloing heroic public event on the EDZ and many other locations, legendary shards are completely reliant on RNG giving me something to dismantle. I'm not sure why they're fiddling with a system that isn't broken though... 😕

I’ll trade ya
