3 completions now, have 5/20. If I can't get a group to do the triumphs for half of them, I'll be at this for 8 more weeks, assuming I get 2 every week after since while it's supposedly farmable, the chances of getting any plummet after your first 2-3 or completion for that week on that account.
I'd rather have it be RNG like Vex, at least I haven't had to do more than 12 completions for any raid exotic since D1. What was the point of giving us a quest that will guarantee the weapon if the completion of the quest relies more on triumphs to get over half the work done and still has a stronger RNG presence than any other raid?

Ran the raid on all 3 characters last night and cleared it on all 3. 2 dropped across the board. -blam!- over it. Not even worth the time.

So I think there's like 11 you can get from triumphs. Point is, you need 20 for the quest. Then you need another 35 for the catalyst. I was lucky enough to get a contest mode clear and get necro autocomplete, meanwhile I only have 11 essence of oversoul currently towards the catalyst... It's going to take forever to get the other 24 needed just to finish the catalyst....like so long that I'll probably long finished running the raid and getting everything I wanted out of it before I hit 35. Meanwhile a lot of people are going to need 55 total!? I mean come on man. They really need to buff that drop rate and fast.

The ones you get for the quest stay and count towards the catalyst.

So, as I said, the triumphs do about half the work for you for the gun. As for the 35 needed for the catalyst, the original 20 are still counted towards that. I've seen other people post different numbers on here, but if it's 35 total between the 2, you'd only need another 15 for the catalyst, which the extremely low drop chance while farming aside, is another 7-8 weeks, all for 24/50 reload and the animation scalar Outlaw provides.

If it's 35 total for gun and catalyst, then it's still kind of stupid that you start at 0 even if you got the Gun during contest mode. I.E. I have necrochasm from contest mode and got the catalyst, but I'm at 11/35. It definitely didn't start me at 20/35 like Bungies post last twid mentioned. So basically, yeah I got the gun and don't have to do the quest, but really I still have to collect the same amount of essence anyhow for the catalyst... Should have only needed 15 for the catalyst and thats it imo.

They just said the quest would auto complete and give you all 3 guns, they never said anything about starting off with +20 Essence.

So, they followed through with their word, albeit in a trashy way? This is Bungie we're talking about, it won't be the last time they screw players over.
