Since The Lament was special-cased, can Black Talon be special-cased too?
Black Talon currently cannot launch projectiles costing one ammo unless they are shot consecutively after expending all sword energy. This means spending 4-8 ammo before having this benefit that was one of its primary unique traits as an Exotic sword. This also means the current description for Black Talon is incorrect should it not be special-cased. Currently, it says "Heavy attacks are stronger with full energy", which is a reference to launching four-ammo cost projectiles that dealt significantly more damage and hit twice. Now, with the changes from update 7.2.0.1, we launch a four-ammo cost projectile even when we don't have full sword energy.
I understand that there are benefits and drawbacks to special-casing Black Talon to make it work the same way prior to the sword changes introduced in 7.2.0.1:
Pros of special-casing include:
- Projectiles launched without full sword energy cost one ammo, allowing for increased usage against rank-and-file combatants
- Higher overall ammo count for projectile usage
- Catalyst perk application to one ammo projectiles
Cons of special-casing include:
- Traditional recharge rate means potential lower usage against elite combatants
- Needing Lucent Blades mod equipped to be on par with the sword rework and to launch powered projectiles more often
