Hey Guardians!
My partner and I started D2 two weeks ago, made it through the weeds, both really enjoying the game and now need some guidance!
A few things: we have the season pass, got the Legacy DLC Pack, just finished the main campaign in Shadowkeep, are both Rank 6 and sitting around 1760. We both only have a few fragments/aspects for Void, Arc and Solar subclasses and most gear is around 3-6 energy with some mods. We both have completed the subclass quests and received the exotics (he’s a Hunter, I’m a Warlock) and have Centrifuse and maybe one other exotic item.
We attempted our first Nightfall last night and realized we were not fully ready for the transition. Cooldowns are still a bit long and we had two players leave our fireteam after reaching the final boss.
I think we’re going to start the Beyond Light campaign next while grinding for shards and glimmer.
Since I’ve noticed that increasing our LL has slowed, I’m wondering what to do next. Should we be working for exotics? Where should our stats be before attempting another Nightfall? Should we focus on Season of the Deep?
Any advice would be much appreciated and I’m happy to share our current stats or clarify anything!
Thanks,
A new Guardian

Edited by MythosPraxis: 8/23/2023 4:08:49 PMCampaigns campaigns campaigns. Do them first. They unlock lots of other things upon completion, including other subclasses and darkness abilities, new activities, extra side quests, exotic missions, and so forth. Shadow keep—>Beyond Light—>Witch Queen—>Lightfall. They are also the fastest way to power up. Save one of every legendary weapon you find and rotate it out when you get a better roll. Watch perks on weapons. Legendary armor doesn’t need to be saved— use what you like but watch the stat packages. Keep your total resilience for all your armor above 60 and your good. Do *not* infuse in the early game, unless it’s same into same— I.e. third axiom pulse into third axiom pulse. Same into same only costs glimmer, it doesn’t cost other resources. Shards/cores are too expensive early on. Once you get to witch queen things will become more plentiful. Blue items will carry you all the way up to a soft cap, legendaries will get you a little higher. And then you’ll need to start watching for activities that reward powerful/pinnacle engrams to climb to the hard cap. Campaigns first though. You’ll climb higher more efficiently by being higher before starting those activities. Doing them at 1760 won’t give you as meaningful of a power increase as when your climbing the 1800 wall. The game drops gear based on your highest possible power for your whole account, including other characters and items in your vault. This means you don’t actually need to have your highest possible power equipped. If you get a blue that’s higher than your legendary or even an exotic, but you don’t want to use the blue, it’s fine. Just don’t break it down until you get something better. This is how you climb. For the love god, play the seasonal stuff when you can too. I can’t tell you how many new players and buddies I’ve watched totally ignore it, and it’s where the most important *current* content is.

Edited by God Eater: 8/14/2023 7:51:34 PMLevel up your ghost. Equip the resilience armorer mod if you have it. This way, if you get a armor drop it will more likely roll with high resilience. Increase your firepower by purchasing fragments and aspects as you play from Ikora in the tower. These are critical to completing a subclass. Most importantly equip mods on your armor if you’ve saved up enough resources for armor with stats you value on that character. The recuperation mod is your BEST FREIND. Always have it on your legs at all times. I think these tips should help you going forward. WARNING: Beware the doomsayers/ trolls that lurk in the forums. They will tell you bad advice on a throw account and/or uninstall when they play every day. I hope this helps you and your partner!👍

Do your powerful/pinnacle challenges. They should drop pretty high for you. I can run you through the nightfall if you want to try and get some decent rewards also

Just play through all the campaigns you’ve bought for now. When you finish Beyond Light, don’t bother doing the quest to fully unlock stasis, as it will be part of Ikora’s inventory like the light subclasses next season.
