The second I saw that it could negate champions, I knew strands days were numbered Bungie doesnt allow something good for long, I am honestly surprised it took this long

Edited by ForeverLaxx: 8/12/2023 2:50:25 AMSuspend was just too good, even players that think Bungie's balance decisions are suspect at best are having a hard time defending Suspend's release power (though something can obviously be said about Bungie keeping it that powerful for so long to drive sales, but that's a story for another thread). The real problem is that 7 seconds of Suspend (and 4 against Champions) is still better than Stasis Freeze in PvE. Bungie wants to call Stasis the "lockdown king," but neglects to actually let them truly lock things down. The very nature of Freeze, that being the Shatter component, functions more like a delayed chain explosion that's designed to defeat mobs of weak enemies which is why it's so terrible against tougher foes for lockdown purposes. Only the Barrier Champion is hampered by Freeze and that's a result of how its Barrier ability is designed more than Stasis itself. Stasis should have had its PvE control aspects boosted when Strand got nerfed. Instead, we got nothing.
Back to the OP light subclasses. Strand had one thing going for it in pve. Now it will join stasis in the trash bin.
Exactly. And the BDF bungie defense force in full gear trying to spin this in bungo's favor. Joke.

Edited by Sturm with no Drang: 8/10/2023 12:45:03 PMI find it weirdly counterproductive that they didn’t really buff Stasis at all in order to make it more appealing in lieu of these nerf to Strand Suspends. Like, you’re gonna say that Strand was stepping on Stasis’s identity of shutting down enemy mobility with Suspend, but not touch up on the iciness after having just recently given it an overall nerf in regards to the recent Behemoth issue from PvP gameplay? As it is, I don’t have much reason to believe this will incentivize either Titans or Hunters to run their respective Stasis subclasses nearly as much as they think it would because of how lackluster they still are. On the plus side, Warlocks be eatin’ really good nowadays. Let’s hope that Bungie’s circus “balancing act” doesn’t hit ‘locks in the near future. Nothing is worse than having them bring something down just to make it level with other options. Surely, the devs have earned their status as “Upender”.

RIP to Berserker in PvE. I read a comment from another player arguing that it was a one-trick pony in PvE and he felt like it was going to be useless soon. In my naivety, I didn't believe Bungie would hammer it so hard. Looks like I was totally wrong. What will Berserker have left now that its only trick will be hammered? Consistent Woven Mail (but only when wearing Abeyant Leap)? Wowee. Another major L set of nerfs from Bungie. They make the entire subclass revolve around a single mechanic and then get upset when people have no choice but to build into it. And that's not even talking about how bad Berserker is in PvP.

Destiny 2: The Final Scam?

12 seconds was more than enough time to kill whatever you’re shooting at. If you need 12 seconds, you’re garbage at the game It’s now 8 seconds against non champs, which is still more than enough time. If you can’t get the job done, you’re garbage at the game Champs are now suspended for 4 secs, which is still enough time to kill a champ, especially with a team. If you can’t kill a champ in 4 seconds, you’re garbage at the game Suspend was OP, and it’ll still be a powerful tool. It’s just a bit more normalized now. If you don’t understand this, you’re garbage at the game
-
If you are nothing without suspend, you dont deserve suspend
-
They're right though. Suspend was completely broken, and you're lying to yourself if you say otherwise.
-
Subclasses come and go, but contraverse holds remain the same steady workhorse :)
-
Stop being dramatic. Suspend lasts 2x as long as freeze from stasis and is way easier to apply with no drawbacks. You act like Suspend will be removed from the subclass completely.

Skill issues

I’m not a Bungie fanboy but if you don’t understand why Strand deserves a nerf then you just don’t understand balance.
-
You use Strand Titan for Suspend barricade? I use mine for Flechette Storm melee. Unravel and Sever functions will still be good, so its still useable but with less Suspend useage.
-
They released it overpowered to encourage you to buy an absolutely trash expansion. Later, when they've pretty much ridden that as far as they can, they gut that and a bit later sell the next expansion with a suspiciously powerful thing. ...Sound like a familiar pattern?
-
I mean suspend is pretty busted as it is.
-
It'll still be good. They're giving us some things back too. Threadings are getting a damage buff. I think they also said they'll be more plentiful when you pop a major with hatchling. Sever is getting a buff too. Now you can nerf 40% of a targets damage. That's huge!

Edited by Oogyman: 8/11/2023 12:02:28 AMI feel like the nerf looks worse than it will be. This is a really weird, and slightly uncomfortable(?) feeling because its Bungie, and I'm used to a lower standard, but it probably won't be bad. Its a sh*t ton of fun, but a little nerf won't hurt it. I'm all for being overpowered, I will never complain about that, but with how it can be utilized, it will be noticeable, though probably not by much. All in all, I can go either way with this one and its fine. I definitely could be wrong, but I'll roll with it.

Preach lol
-
Good. Tired of seeing all the posts on lfg requiring strand because they're garbage.
-
Oh, look! History repeats itself AGAIN. Bungie releases a new over-tuned subclass to sell a new DLC just to nerf it before the next expansion where they can sell you the new overpowered subclass!!!
-
Strand will still be good and still have a place.
-
This happens every time Bungle accidentally creates something useful and fun. Players post that it helps a lot with champions and Bungle just has to nerf it. It's a mindless knee-jerk response from the non-gamers who run the company.
-
There will literally be no point in even using strand for suspend after the nerf. Against champions, three seconds is a waste. Might as well just use weapons to stun them. Bungie is killing the strand class and they don't even care.

As a titan main bungie is nurfing titans be sure of pvp crybaby’s
