How to simplify monetization and gain goodwill from the community
I think pretty much everyone agrees that the monetization of the game has gotten out of control. You have season passes, dungeon passes, expansion etc. Every bit of the game is basically behind a paywall.
I think it should change, especially how much is free content.
I'm fine with paying for a season pass, though the season pass should have the previous 10 dollar/euro price tag.
Dungeon keys should be removed and linked to the current expansion for a year, after the next expansion arrives they would be free content.
All expansions should become free after a year for everyone. Majority would still buy the latest expansion for the content and it would seriously help newer players and free to play players.
Trials acces is still linked to the current expansion.
Of course, the previous expansion from Shadowkeep to Witch queen would be free here.
This would really simplify the monetization system and help newer players to get in to the game. And if you think that Bungie would lose huge amounts revenue, I would disagree. Increased goodwill and acces to the game can increase player population and Bungie still has Eververse that sells a huge amount of different cosmetics.
For example: Warframe is totally free. While it has arguably more monetization in it, the players still have acces to the whole game. While the exact copy of this wouldn't work in Destiny 2, following the guidelines I brought forward could work in my opinion.
But what do you think? I think at least something has to be done.
