I know with the whole bait n switch/auto loading/DPS meta we have that RLs are mostly used for hitting a boss 2 meters in front of you. But does anyone really think that having every archetype track intrinsically (how rockets function in most other games) would be OP??
Although great for DPS, I feel like the main power fantasy of RLs is reliability taking out beefy targets from far distances…which is not fun without tracking. Going from a precision frame to any other frame is jarring when you need to take out a shrieker 50 meters away while being chased by knights and wizards.
The best solution I think is to just make it an accessibility toggle like Full Auto. Replace all current tracking perks with like Field Prep or something.
I think this is a change we can all get behind.

I’ll just add this here: All grenades should have intrinsic Fastball (enhanced throw distance), and that specific mod should be removed.

Wouldn't mind if they brought back the D1 titan exotic helmet.

It's rather annoying that rockets can be easily sidestepped in the game if they don't have tracking. Just about every (normally) shieldable red bar has a dodge function, including some typically unshielded combatants like Servitors and Taken Thrall. That's assuming they don't already have a way to tank said damage (besides sheer HP) too.

I actually feel the opposite should happen. I think tracking should be an exotic only perk, and there should be a longer lock-on time, but also, rockets should hit harder to compensate. Legendary RLs shouldn't even have tracking, but have more noticeable differences in things like reload time, magazine capacity, velocity, etc to compensate. Really though, I don't care what Bungie does with the game.

I hipfire all my rockets anyways, so go for it. Wouldn't affect me at all.

I mean tbf in return for the intrinsic tracking they gave precision frames a nerf they did like 10% less before then they added another 10% nerf making them 20% weaker and the tracking is pretty weak if I had to guess if they added intrinsic to other frames they'd also give them a 10% nerf which while not much I'd honestly would take the 10% over a very slight turn

It’s a holdover mechanic from Halo…

Agreed. My apex predator has tracking/explosive light for general use because it’s the best legendary solar RL and I don’t want to craft a second one just for boss dps.

Their used to be but it was a exotic astronaut titans helmet helmet in d1 that allowed rockets to gain tracking as a intrinsic perk haha
