Today I did something in D2 that I never in the several thousand hours I have spent with this game. Go fishing. For the first time I was able to interface with the amazing worlds you folks have built over the last decade in a totally non violent and social way. I interfaced with local chat for the first time ever to just chat with some other fishermen, I made some new friends and I found myself enjoying running around on patrol and explore the open zones for the first time in ages. This needs to be permanent and expanded on. More fish, more fishing spots, and more to collect. I will farm for exotic fishing poles and fishing transmog sets a million times longer then any weapon.

Should have made fishing a thing in the farm. Not in places where public events ruin it.
-
I haven't been this excited since Lawnmower Simulator.
-
Probably the most boring thing added to the game yet….
-
Each to their own. Glad you enjoy it Personally I think Bungie and the devs have lost the -blam!- plot. Imagine the time and resources that were put into this fishing crap that could have been better spent on…….I don’t know Sparrow racing! The amount of times I’ve seen players ask for the return of sparrow racing on these forums and reddit and they give us fishing….. -blam!- fishing!
-
2023 they add fishing and people lose their minds, this is exactly why this game has gone down the pan.
This needs to be permanent and expanded on
Yeah, it took them since 2014 just to do this, to give a destination a tiny bit of life, and from what I understand it's behind a paywall? Dude, other games have been for years doing so much more than this business has in 9 years 🤦♂️ You guys are starving so bad for something to happen in this game that basic things in gaming are the highlight of the entire game. That's pretty fracking bad...
-
I really don't get it, why is everyone so hyped about this? It's boring and useless. Why would someone want to spend time this way?
-
It's really stupid
-
I can’t wait til it goes away forever like SRL lol
-
Turn it into a fishing sim. Then Bungie will nerf your rods and reels!
-
Much like real fishing, it's very boring
-
It’s my go to between doing other things on the to do list. More simple than the warframe way and encourages some teamwork. Like I see a group huddled together on the map and I know what’s up. First exotic caught a few mins ago
I was able to interface with the amazing worlds you folks have built over the last decade in a totally non violent and social way
"Totally non violent ?!?!?" LoL Imagine you take a bite of juicy, delicious, hamburger. WHAM!!!! Big metal hook through the side of your face as you get ripped from your environment. Non violent.... That's a good one
-
While there is a really nice novelty to it, I see it growing old very, very quickly, the sheer amount you need to catch is staggering. Couple that with the public event ruining your focused fishing just when you get it up to max, and you need to get lucky on the amount of people in the instance…. I don’t know about this one. Why can’t we just fish at the farm? That place has a huge lake and we need to feed all those people…

This is interesting to me, I'm looking forward to the fishing. I didn't have the time to try it today. But, what interests me is what you said about interfacing with local chat. Just today, I was on a thread talking about how nobody ever uses the chats in game, so it sometimes feels lonely. I'm used to other MMO's having non stop chat. But, I was wondering why Destiny in particular and uniquely, never has anyone talking. So, basically, it made me wonder if the reason nobody ever talks in Destiny's chat is because they never have any real down time activities like other MMO's do. And, maybe that's why nobody ever chatted before - it was always being played in the context of non stop action, no slow stuff like fishing. Maybe? Maybe not. I don't know. But, now I want to try fishing even more. Maybe fishing, in some small way, would be the way to encourage actual organic community interaction.

What's missing is our own permanent Guardian house. XD

Edited by Quiet_Bushi: 5/24/2023 7:04:38 AMI'm gonna be honest: I really like it and I don't even know why. I found out it was relaxing and fun at the same time also if at the end it is really nothing special, just a stupid and simple min-game. Still, I'm hooked (got it? hehe).
-
It would be cool if we got an equipable fishing rod and had open water fishing. The pools could still be a thing as they are now. Fishing might seem like a weird thing for Destiny but sometimes it's nice to have a simple diversion in a game to break up the monotony.
-
What stats are you getting on armor drops? See any exotics yet?
-
Seriously, they put fishing in the game...really. Hilarious.
-
Bored of it already.
-
This is Bungie we're talking about here mate, the fact that players find it means that they are most likely gonna either monetize it to milk it for all it's worth or get rid of it because apparently Bungie hates it when the players are having fun.
-
Assasins creed Valhalla has better fishing and red dead redemption 2 has better fishing than destiny
-
It’s lame. You don’t even reel the fish in.
-
Honestly don’t care about the fishing being in the game but I have a gripe with the fact that it’s tied to triumphs. Really makes me not like a game when I’m forced to do something I have no interest in doing, especially when it is something that has nothing to do with a fps
-
One more "triumph" I'll never get. To each their own. Change the euphemism from hamster to fish. Change 'Bungo troll' from figurative to literal. I've got a lot better things to waste time with.
