Chromatic Fire, Severance Enclosure, and a few other exotic changes (S21)
Chromatic Fire and Severance Enclosure have almost the same effect; except that SE makes its elemental explosions from powered melee kills, and CF does it from precision kinetic kills. In other words, CF is already the better version, working at longer range and from an infinite resource. So since CF is getting buffed to include subclass verbs into its explosions (including Weaken on void, amazingly enough), then its only fair that SE should see the same sort of treatment. Otherwise, its just another waste of an exotic unworthy of the slot compared to everything else.
Dunemarchers: I get that it has been a nuisance and actually unfair in pvp -- but why nerf its pve effects based on that? seems an over reaction
Path of Burning Steps: I get that its damage buff is being brought in line with the new standard; but that's a hard nerf, especially since it now wont stack with Surge mods. It already takes a back seat the the likes of Loreley, Ashen Wake, and HoIL for Sunbreakers. Just being a wearable Solar Surge with anti stasis effects that only apply in one or two Nightfalls wont be a strong draw for it against its opposition.
Sealed Ahamkara Grasp: This exotic will now directly compete with Dragon's Shadow to achieve the same thing: a triple reload. its just on a melee kill instead of a dodge, which is arguably more of a hassle to pull off in many situations. While it does improve the exotic, its not better than Dragon's Shadow, except for allowing the user to jump higher; which is rarely all that useful.
(Tangent: Hunters will now have 2 triple reload exotics, and Warlocks have a dodge to triple reload exotic. why are Titans the odd man out here; with the least amount of effects granted from their dodge Thruster? Icarus Dash can at least be used twice with Heat Rises, and can triple reload with Rain of Fire. Thruster doesn't even go third person, has no effect besides moving, and has zero exotics to modify it specifically.)
Khepri's Horn: This should have had Scorch since it was released in Season of the Haunted and it was given to other exotics. but this change alone likely wont displace other exotic options, except for meme-y pvp builds on Strand, which wont change much. but at least it can potentially make a sunspot now, which Sunbreakers already have many ways to do. This is a very overdue and underwhelming change.
Sanguine Alchemy: I get that its subclass neutral, but is that reason enough for its non stacking damage bonus to only be the same as 2 surge mods, when the new standard is 3+?
