I am 100% certain the drop rate for sunshot is broken. I have owned it for months, done hundreds of strikes and crucible matches. Have not gotten the catalyst. Today I bought hawkmoon for the first time, rangefinder seems like a good perk. I have never used this gun once. The first strike I completed I received the catalyst for it. Please bungie notice this problem. I know about the supposed catalyst limit of 7, it doesn't make a difference in this case. I've had all the triumphs completed for a while and no sunshot catalyst dropped.
