Glaives had already been nerfed hard, with roaring flames no longer boosting their melee damage, and now synthoceps barely providing any boost at all its caused a lot of backlash. Nobody thinks this nerf was warranted especially since the leading reason was the winterbite exotic glaive.
The payoff for risking being in close quarters with a glaive was doing high damage in short windows of time, before backing off or getting stomp one shot etc.

I was actually using glaive because of how good the melee felt with synthoceps. What purpose is there to their risky playstyle if their damage is going to be complete garbage by itself? It doesn't matter that it's infinite ammo...cause in endgame content, the enemies are gonna blast you to hell as soon as you decide to get it...which has been a fairly consistent problem for titans in the first place. What's the point of having a melee class if they keep micromanaging how effective they are? What's the point of the glaive if every strong interaction with them gets bombarded into hell? This feels like sword 2.0 where they want people to use them but not to excel

The damage had been the same ever since they put synergy between glaive melees and exotics into the game. Damage was actually a lot higher last season, could get up to 67k per hit with the artifact mod but now hitting 40k was deemed as far too much!

Don't get me wrong, Bungie's clearly not very good at... well, making video games these days, but you can't be mad that Roaring Flames doesn't increase glaive damage. That obviously wasn't intended.

I was actually trying out the exotic for the first time and man it rquires a lot of ads to get the synthoceps buff to proc. this isnt something without risk like starfire protocall and well its high risk high reward. Bungie oh bungie why did you nerf something with skill and that was fun and not touch the warlocks starfire build. If us titans are not allowed fun they are not allowed fun either
