Note before reading this that I'm am in no way a critic or anything, just 1 player in the grand total of destiny's population...
I'm a Void Hunter who's been out of the grave since destiny 2's initial launch, I dont have as much experience as other players due to me not really being around for destiny 1, but I've still been around a good bit. not really necessary but ima put my loadout I was mostly using here aswell.
[armory]Austringer[/armory] Godroll pve
[armory]Deafening whisper[/armory] with ambitious assassin and auto loading (I like it, Ik its not the best prob)
[armory]Parasite[/armory] I'm a good ad clear, so this weapon helps me balance killing ads and dishing boss dmg
I personally felt that Light Fall was somewhat of a letdown.
We are reaching the end of destiny 2 and my standards for the DLC's are rising with that.
- we were giving an amazing, brand new playground to explore, never seen before.
- we finally get to see the Cloudstriders who I think were kind of f**king cool.
- another DLC incorporating the "Become Legend" difficulty which I loved in witch queen.
The added difficulty makes anything just so much more rewarding!
And with all of these things you might be wondering why I thought it was a letdown, those all seem like plusses to me.
I thought it was a letdown because I felt that the DLC focused way too hard on strand. and I get it its a new ability, something our guardian has never done or used before. but when the whole DLC is just you trying to learn how to use it without hurting your wittle head? it becomes a problem.
I wanted to learn more about this world that we just set foot in for the first time. the Cloudstriders, the veil, this civilization that we've never seen before, the cloud ark. something discussed more than quite possibly 2 sentences.
and for f**ks sake focuses way too hard on strand. the whole DLC was mostly me running around trying to control strand. like 70% of the DLC is just that! this power is cool, but by the time I told my friend "hey I think I'm about to get strand. I'm on that one cutscene where Osirus and I doing a training montage". . . My friend told me I was reaching the climax of the story. WHAT STORY?! . with me doing all of this I honestly feel cheated. Due to me running around trying to learn strand, I feel like the DLC was honestly kind of short, even with the "Become legend" difficulty. It just felt like one giant Tutorial on strand, and then "oh hey, yeah, go fight calus"
Beyond light had a better story to it and it also had the same problem with focusing a little more on the power rather than the story. hell the final fight is literally you just bashing what's her name into the ground with stasis only for her to come back later in a season.
and the Cloudstriders, I wanted to learn more about them and not just "hey we're on the same side because we have a common enemy. I wanted to get more attached to these new characters. Rohan's death really didnt spark anything in me because I didnt get attached to him really what's so ever.
and I guess the argument could be his death served more for nimbus to take his mantle, but still let me get to know these characters and form a connection before you kill them.
nimbus is a little quirky but I really cant complain too much about him. he's unique. the most I can complain about is when he just comes in near the end and just shreds the side of the building for no reason. like why.. was that necessary. in all I did find him nice and interesting to talk to with a unique way of thinking on things. does scream surfer vibes tho.
idk thats just my view on it, please tell me if I'm wrong or not. Id love to hear what others think.
