One thing that's always been a frustration with me was having an activity that didn’t really matter and can be joined at anytime and CAN FIT A FULL LOBBY while waiting for my Raid team to get online. There are times that I’ve been waiting for a few people to get one and I figured that as I wait, I’ll just launch us into something while we wait. The problem was there are almost no 6 Player activities that you can do passively play. As I logged in, I came up with an idea. A Simulation playpen.
So, here's how this will work:
There's a new Area on the Destinations Screen, Let's call it the Simulation Chamber. In the Launch sub-menu there is difficulty selector with two main modes with each have sub modes. These would be the "Difficulty" Selections.
PVE: Simple Ads that spawn in waves, changing faction every wave.
PVE Mayhem: Functions like Default but has Crucible Mayhem settings with fast ability regenerations
Boss: Spawns a simple Boss
Boss Mayhem: Spawns a simple Boss but has Crucible Mayhem settings with fast ability.
Crucible
Mayhem Crucible
Each option has its own arena. The areas are extremely simple looking, almost like it was missing textures but it's because it's a simulation. For the PVE Ones, that could have like a Control Room area with buttons and switches that can change a few settings, like the faction and player options. For the Boss ones they can have switches that add like a certain shield or something like that.
Here are the other things that would be put in place to be a real Sandbox mode:
● Infinite Ammo
● 12 Players
● Power Level set to Soft Cap
● XP/Triumph Progress Disabled
With this Simulation Chamber Area, a lot will come with this. The biggest thing is if you're just sitting around waiting for like a fireteam member, you can launch into this and basically turn your brain off and just kill things. However, another thing that would make actually useful is playtesting stuff. For example with the boss, it helps players and most of all content creators test the DPS of things or we can test builds. Something like this with be super beneficial and fun for all players
