I see both sides here.
The rng in this game is brutal. It’s a known fact. So what does Bungie do? Adds crafting as a means to help combat the brutal rng in destiny.
But what has crafting done with all the other weapons? Made them pretty useless (excluding certain guns that you get from vendors ie trials, gambit, etc). What’s the point of keeping and using a decent rolled world weapon when I can just craft a gun that is similar, does the job better, and I can pick my perks?
That’s why I think the “crafting nerf” (so to speak) is somewhat warranted. It makes world drop guns and other misc guns more desirable.

I mean… who cares if they’re made useless? Getting red borders in aspirational activities isn’t just a cake walk and who gives a damn if they make throw-away Matchmade seasonal content less grindy. All they do mostly is make the worst content less grindy. Content that people constantly complain about.

My issue is that they are nerfing it but not replacing it with anything to compensate for what it was alleviating. Which is the unreasonable side of unchecked RNG. It’s a safety net that is getting large holes poked in it.

Well, they are making it so that random drop weapons can be enhanced, which seems like a good compromise to me. If you happen to get a good roll on a weapon (that can’t be crafted), you can enhance the perks to make it more in line with a crafted weapon.

You wont enhance a roll you potentially never get. Thats the point.

Edited by Illuminary: 2/14/2023 4:16:59 AMYou're assuming that is the case. Blackburn said the enhancing will start with raid adepts in season of the deep, but in order to enhance the rest in the future "technical hurdles" will need to be tackled first. You and most of the others with a similar attitude give too much credit about enhancing drops. This company broke their own game for an extended duration trying to remove blue engrams. The shaped system was nerfed to extend play time by forcing people to grind more unnecessarily. Also, shaped weapons were undoubtedly stronger so the nerf to that coincides with the ability nerf and light level capping to make us weaker because Bungie has no idea how develop strategically challenging content. Nothing good is coming from nerfing shaped weapon drops unless you're content with less than mediocracy.

Edited by Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 2/16/2023 11:02:22 PMRandom drops having enchantment capabilities is a good thing, yes, but if does nothing on the RNG front. They implemented focusing and crafting to give players a measure of control over getting a desired weapon roll. Whether perks can be enhanced or not doesn’t affect how the roll is obtained. It’s going to be more tedious and time consuming to get desired rolls again.

Also it doesnt matter because I wont enhance my bad rolls I get from rng.
