Hey there. You can't have earned 4 without earning 3 before it. Each Hunter's Trace upgrade is unlocked one after another.
4 is superior to 3 so replaces it as an option if you hadn't reshaped it with 3 yet. There's no need for the weapon to be crafted with 3, when you have unlocked 4.
