How do you know he was banned “for nothing”? Did bungie tell you that? Were you physically watching his gameplay & running/background apps at all times?

Then again how would it feel to support destiny for over 8 years and not know any reason why he was banned. I think it is stupid to not know the reason of the ban and not tell the person who owns the account of it. Many people can even account that this person would never cheat or exploit in any way as well because he enjoys games the way they are meant to play. Bungie has accidentally banned people before so im not surprised at all. Plus even with an appeal it doesnt say why he was.

Bungie has every legal right to not detail why a ban is given. This can (and has) lead cheat devs to better program their products to more easily be undetectable. Yes. False bans have happened…and they get overturned upon appeal. Considering your friend remains banned means that Bungie has now reviewed the account 3 times to confirm they didn’t err.
