Lately I've been reading more and more in the Bungie forum, because I just want to get a picture of what the D2 community is up to, but some posts are demotivating for me in the long run because of the rather grumpy choice of words. Couldn't you do something to protect other users from bad-tempered opinion posts that spoil the atmosphere? It should indeed be technically possible for you to algorithmically capture the mood of thread creators and visualize it in the form of a toxic meter, so that certain rant posts are not even opened?

Shut up meg

The mood Police 🤭

I took a class in college that had a project where we made a mood-reading algorithm, for restaurant reviews I think it was. The problem with translating it to these forums would be 1) it's not always accurate and 2) it can struggle to detect sarcasm/trolling, for example if someone makes a post about getting DC'd on their lighthouse game I might jokingly say something like "skill issue" or "get outplayed idiot" that a human would recognize as a joke but an algorithm wouldn't.

I think that’s a reflection on the state of the game

I started playing with the D1 beta and I finally quit several months back. Now, whenever I get the urge to play, I visit the forums to remind myself why I quit. So, sometimes toxicity is a good thing.

As long as something like that can be turned on and off then the people that want the blinders should be allowed to have that if they want it. Some of us don't think its good to pretend like opposing opinions or "grumpiness" doesn't exist though. I also seriously doubt that something like that wouldn't turn into something that's presented as objective and in actuality is really biased. You also have to be careful about what kind of profiling AI like that could end up doing by accident over time and how that could turn into a problem that it was never intended to turn into. Probably be better off just having a human do it tbh and stating that from a certain point forward certain types of posts will be removed. There's plenty of people on this forum that think just because they say they aren't toxic and they think they aren't that means that they aren't toxic. Which is just one of those things on the internet that's very interesting to watch people do. Sorry if that sounds grumpy, in your opinion.

First thing first, define "toxic".
Couldn't you do something to protect other users from bad-tempered opinion posts that spoil the atmosphere?
It's not on Bungie or any other 3rd party to determine what an individual may find "offensive" as that onus is solely on the individual. If you're having issues in what you deem to be toxic behavior on the forums, then perhaps it's time to move on to the other social platforms where Destiny is discussed. Sounds like the r/LowSodiumDestiny subreddit is more suited for you. All that you are prompting is an unnecessary level of censorship that is not needed nor is it welcomed or wanted

Sounds fascist to me.

Yeah, but -blam!- like this also spoils the atmosphere.

I’m concerned for the future…
-
What about protecting us from censorious imbeciles?
-
Just block dudes that post stuff you dont like, sure makes the air fresher once you clear out the same old faces.
-
Oh my gosh, what did I just read 😂😂😂🤦🏿♂️. I don’t think the Internet is for you

You will be fine. Stop clutching your pearls and being so sensitive.
