Long rant about Gambit inbound:
TLDR: Gambit is counter intuitive, and has seen no changes in the past year so it should be retired for more focus on better/other game modes/Balancing/ and the rest of destiny as a whole.
Gambit has seen 0 Changes in the past seasons, no new maps, no new mechanics, no new bosses, just the same grind, over and over again.
Hell, 2 of the maps don't exist anymore lore wise (Not to mention the maps in crucible) so why keep the game mode around. We got to the drifters endpoint, we are wielding the darkness and soon some new energy that we don't know much about yet.
With its removal, creators at bungie can push their efforts to new avenues, and those that worry about balancing don't have to nerf something because its too good in pvp, while thinking of the consequences it has for a dead game mode.
Sure people play it, and hell might even have fun with it. But doing the same thing over and over again, season after season, for nothing more than a gun skin which is a 50/50 chance the gun itself is good enough to match up with current meta gear loadouts. Is it really worth it to devote effort to something that hasn't seen any REAL progress in the past year, besides maybe freelance as an option (which just means no one talking and a festival of chickens running around with their heads cut off).
Hell, gambit itself is counter productive as a gamemode, worse then the ruffians of the treasure hunt nonsense. Considering enemies spawn equally on both sides, with only loss in motes being death or through the floor, do you bank first and get drained when the opponents super bank on you?, or do you bank second to drain them, for them to have saved their supers for that moment to mess with your entire plan?. Do you invade immediately when the portal opens to maybe get some kills and set them back slightly, or do you wait and double invade to cripple them?. Do you Bank when you have enough to open the portal in the first place, or save to drop a medium blocker and pray the enemy doesn't drop the hammer and block you out while also invading you. Do you invade to stop the enemy from killing the wizards during the boss phase, or do you invade when the boss is taking damage and hope you survive the burning of their supers?
The game mode has so much BS built in, that there's no clear strategy to winning besides praying that the motes don't go through the floor, the enemy invader doesn't spawn right behind you, or some enemy gimmick from the latest patch for pve, doesn't send you into the nearby wall, dropping all 15 of your motes.
Gambit should simply be removed so Bungie and the devs can focus more on other parts of the game then trying to even attempt to add anything to the game mode

I'm not usually in the camp of "remove, don't fix," but in gambit's case I agree, the mode is doomed unless they change it to the point of not even being recognizable as the same thing.
