I like the ladder, I think it is a great idea. But once low population times come around, it becomes miserable since it does "SBMM" instead of matching in ranks. But the current PVP is awful. Titan Grenades everywhere. Invis Spam off the charts. I literally watched a dude rubberband to get kills multiple times (with and against them).
I have thousands of hours, and that is mainly in crucible. I love the movement, and the guns. But when I want to go have fun in quickplay, and run into the same sweats from comp, my interest shrivels up faster than a salmon in the desert.
The PVP gameplay loop is broken, and no longer satisfying.
I literally just had a thought today that I don't enjoy this. I have toughed through the ups and downs, but the current state is miserable, and when I don't have friends for private matches, your "Fair" overrides any fun I used to have. The pvp is miserable, the connections in pvp are miserable, the state of the game is miserable. Smoke is busted, Invis is busted, Titan grenades are busted, Warlocks, don't got much to complain about atm.
Since complaining without proper feedback is stupid, and only stupid people do that. My personal opinions are.
Remove SBMM from Quickplay and focus Getting matches going. If you want and are so desperate, do a split where if you are in the top 50%, there is your pool, Bottom 50% same.
Comp. More objective based game modes. There is a reason every other shooter with a ladder (outside of Battle royals) Uses these game modes, it requires actual thinking instead of everyone devolving into the simplest of apes.
Invis should not be so easily chained. Drops it's time in PVP (Especially on Khepri's).
Smokes should NOT inhibit movement. No slow, no suppression, none of that. You say you are building identities, well let stasis do the slow. I have never ONCE EVER, seen smoke physically stop anything, it's smoke. Keep the blind, disorientate, radar, stuff. Infact, make it freak out the radar for a bit afterwards. but the movement penalty for smoke is BS.
Titan grenades, I love em, I use them a LOT. Reduce the movement speed of the storm cloud, Easy, no need to reduce time at all.
AE? I have mixed feelings, but overall, it feels unrefined still. It took 4 years to nerf stompees, and you built an entire system the community HATES to do so. Now every hunter transfered to invis because it's the next broken thing. Can't wait on the buffs to come.
Something from my dad (He doesn't play, but listens to me a lot) He said that if you have a bad connection, you shouldn't be allowed to play pvp. It's 2022, if you want to play alive service game, get something better than McDonalds Wifi. Here in the US, the lowest Avg speed by locale is in West Virginia at 63 mgps. That compares to 3 different devices all streaming 4k video live at once. which most people don't ever do.
I won't say get dedicated servers, because I work with servers for a living, I know how incredibly expensive that would be, so unless Sugar Daddy Sony pays out big bucks I don't expect that, but there are things you could do to improve the active state of the game.
Another side note, and this may be mean in the long run, but taking the community ideas and implementing them, even if to just prove a point, may help improve the waning relationship we currently have.
This is my favorite game. I want to see it healthy, growing, and enjoyable. But it feels like the focus has shifted elsewhere. I saw this in Fo76 (despite its launch). Tons of work was done to improve the game, and then teams where pulled to other projects, and now it's a shell, with maybe 1 good content drop a year, the rest is just stuff the B-team can throw together without breaking anything.
