I cannot be the only one browsing my inventory, quests, bounties or changing mods while travelling or queuing for activities. I think being interrupted by the travel is one of the most annoying situation in the game by far 😆. This should be a seamless and transparent experience, maybe with simply a banner saying we arrived at destination or the activity is now beginning.

An unfortunate side effect of a solution to a much larger problem.

Games generally don’t let you access your menus while loading. So be thankful you can do it at all.
-
So someone can be trying shaders not realizing they have landed and are hurting there team There is a reason they take you out of your menu

Time to re-post this reply then: The other hand is due to spaghetti code from D1, the issue is that if they DIDNT, there's a chance that you'd legitimately LOSE YOUR WEAPONS if something hiccuped at the wrong point in a transition. So they force you out as a lesser of two evils. ---- It's what I've seen people referring to for years, people always mentioning a developer talking about it since D1 but despite all my digging into which dev / who actually started it, that's nearly 10 years ago by now and the actual source of the comment appears to be lost to the sands of time. Consider this thread from 2015 which has another similar post linked in comments. And there's also another thread from 2015 with comments about that happening in Y1 D1 stating why it was done This post also links to a Bungie Help article that no longer exists about items being lost from Nov 11, 2015. This didn't use to happen. I'm fairly sure it's a deliberate feature not a bug. It's probably a sloppy work around for some other problem they won't tell us about.
-
This has been talked about before. The pulling out of menu during loading is to prevent bugs/crashes of having the menu open while loading into an activity. Something to do with the way the engine loads things and memory I believe.

Seriously think about it. During a load screen you can go into your inventory and literally swap everything you’d like. Stop crying.
-
You’re literally swapping server spaces, it’s not really possible to keep your menu open the whole time… it’s 2 seconds to load it back up.
menu should not interrupt players in Travel
Feels like sometimes I am pulled out of the menu by things other than actually landing and starting the event. Like, when my ship appears to launch toward the event. I could be wrong. That should not happen, if it does. But, I do think there is a balancing act. I've been grinding strikes to level up my alt characters' armor, and I notice that in most strikes, one or sometimes both of the other players just stand around for long stretches. I suppose they load in and expect to be carried. Seems like it works for them. Also, seems like a broken gameplay experience. So I'd be a bit concerned about the menu staying up when you land and the event actually begins adding to this.
-
The devs have stated that this is done to prevent the potential loss of gear being swapped out; the game is coded to force you out of your menu during the points in the loading process where this can potentially happen. How many items would you be willing to lose before swearing off mid-load gear swapping altogether? At that point it would essentially function as a self-imposed “no gear swapping at all during loading” situation that new players would have to gradually learn by losing who knows how many items. The fact that the game allows you root around in your inventory for even short spurts while traveling is a compromise on the part of the developers. Other games just lock you out of your inventory entirely. (΄◉◞౪◟◉`)

Edited by Thugnificent: 11/6/2022 8:41:51 PMHey morons how hard is it to just let him know that it’s been addressed already and there won’t be any changes made to it? Not everyone reads the twabs or checks Twitter every day. You’re all so pathetic and needlessly annoying.

First world problems.
-
Scrapping the bottom of the barrel for things to complain about
-
They've explained a hundred times why this is necessary. If you don't get it by now you're hopeless
-
Hey tard. Yeah you…. Shut up. Oh yea this can’t be fixed. If you can. Sell that -blam!- to all game makers
-
I'm pretty sure they addressed the issue but said that they cannot do anything about it.
-
That does bug me, I just hop back into the menu when I load in. I don't care how long I take afk, I won't let the travel interrupt my task or loadout swaps.
-
Be glad you can do this at all. Other games are just a loading screen.
-
Literally nothing other than your own button inputs should remove you from your menu
