I think Ahamkara is a Buddhist concept of the ego or self. The concept of "I" or "mine". I think in the Destiny universe, every world with intelligent life has spawned Ahamkara. It's possible that the moment a creature becomes self aware and realizes the concept of "me", "I" or "self" an Ahamkara comes into existence. Ahamkara seem to be obsessed with becoming more and more real. They are probably ego made manifest and feed on the ego, wants and desires because it's literally what they're made from. They say, "O Bearer Mine", probably because they are a pure, living construct of self awareness and the concepts of "I" and "mine". I don't think the Ahamkara will ever be extinct as long as there are self aware and materialistic beings. Edit: I think the paracausal powers of the Traveler also has something to do with their creation as well. They may be a byproduct of when the Traveler uplifts a civilization. Prolonged exposure of psychic energies of sentient beings and the powers of life and creation of the Traveler might be what's required for Ahamkara to come into existence.
