A while ago I introduced some friends into the game, and I gotta tell you...I could tell they weren't enjoying the beginning. The new light story is just boring. There's no suspense and it's not engaging at all. It would be a lot easier to just bring back the red war, and after the ghost resurrects the guardian, and goes to the tower the first time (minus all that go here go there hassle) ikora says something like "Hey you need to know the past to understand the present" or something and take them to a vex time gate back to the red war. It would be a much better story, and you already have the assets. Please consider this. I want my friends to enjoy the game as much as I have

Tbh they even got lazy when explaining New Light. There was a lot of telling and not showing. Shaw Han is an experienced hunter, but we never saw him fight. At one point, he says he’s overrun with Hive so we start shredding through armies to draw attention from him, but we didn’t see much Hive in the area at the time so the whole situation just made him seem pathetic. The tour around the tower was boring and I highly doubt enough players actually took the time to read/listen to all that exposition. But I do think a rework is coming. Bungie wouldn’t go through all the trouble of making that intro cutscene on YouTube if they didn’t plan to put it in the game, and that video said more about the lore than the entire New Light campaign.

Great idea actually. I haven’t thought of the time thing, but that should work. The only problem is the tech issue that bungie has been trying to fix for a long time. Basically, they sunset locations and activities because they had to. If they can’t fix it, they should at least make the new light story better.

That’s concerning. So many fun story lines in the past, wonder why they went with a lesser story for new lights. Missed opportunity, I guess. It makes me feel fortunate to have played all the vaulted missions.

I don't know about red war, but definitely, Bungie should make a better new light experience. TBH red war was mediocre at best, and with whole lotta things that have happened since, (Cayde 6, Calus, Caitl, Osiris, etc) I don't think it would help, rather confuse new players. Also, abilities don't work how they worked back then. Just make this Navota story a bit more player friendly and a bit meatier, that's all it needs, and then at the tower Zavala, the Drifter, Ikora and Hawthorne explain the rest.

Favorite part, Shaw Han, totally botches mission, admits to it, def responsible for fireteam deaths. "Oh hey, totally new guy that doesnt know anything, stick with me and follow my orders, and youll be ok." Nah Shaw, im good, i choose life.

My missus lasted about 5 minutes in the new light story before she got bored and called it quits so I had to jump on her account and do it for her just so she could properly play with me, I can almost guarantee she'd rather red war, there's actual progression there as opposed to "spend 2mil glimmer to unlock abilities"

There is a new light story?

I hear you, I'm actively pushing people away from the game because of how bad it is for New Lights
